Hi, Four months ago, i found scratch off the school electives. Beforehand I asked the teacher what language we will be doing, and he said we will be doing scratch, because it is easy to use, but it isn't that powerful. So I downloaded scratch the following night. i already had 'Gamemaker,' it is pretty good. At first I thought scratch was a very fast, yet rough language. Four months later, I know full use of veriables, know all the scratch secrets (some secrets I keep to myself), And I think scratch is an awesome piece of work. IT is an awesome programming language that is very quick and powerful. For most of my free time, I am doing scratch, it is both the funnest thing in the world, and is not frustrating at all (unless the computer has a problem), there is no boring bits, and the fact you can put it on the internet and other poeple can see your game/movie/sim, is absolutely amazing. Scratch games are getting more advanced, as people of all levels have put thier projects on, from rock paper scissors games to movies, raytracers and 3D! I have c++, it is... alright, apart from the fact that it takes THIRTY SECONDS to make the thing say hello! Scratch is awesome and the internet is the best system in the world, all of this was made by the most skilled and kind designers. THANK YOU LOADS FOR SCRATCH!
By the way, I showed scratch to a few friends, and one of them wanted to do Andres Monroy Hernandez for a radio interview in English!!!

I want to have job at scratch, but I live in australia and don't want to be in a different city from all my friends. (I was crying when we moved from south africa to Australia (used to live in south africa(i was only seven) ) )

I agree that scratch is a pretty cool language to toy around with but really scratch is not really quick and powerful. It can't do quick number crunching and process things as fast as other languages can.

Now you just being silly with this one. Of course it would take a bit longer to type cout<<"Hello World\n"; or something but text based languages are capable of much more than scratch is and if you memorize all the codes you could probably program faster than you could in scratch.

well, it does, because i don't tend to be a very accurate typer, AND you hav e to type EXACTLY the right thing...

After careful review of your posts, I've reached a conclusion:
On a scale of 1 to 10: It's time to overcome your fixation with rating things, and start enjoying them ...
Scratch is:
1) Fun
A) Easy to Learn
2) "Shareable"
It was designed for these goals, and meets or exceeds them. If there is any real "competition" for Scratch, it's the next version of Scratch. For any limitations that Scratch has, it is truly amazing in what is does, and how well it does it.
