Mine was only 3 lines.  tongue

Yeah, but 3 lines is an almost-paragraph.

And I had a link to my real speech.  tongue

Another reason I fell like I should be chosen as a curator is because I will choose projects that I feel are good. Many other people say that they will choose projects that arent noticed but are really good. While I agree with them I feel like if a project has 80 views compared to a project with 40 views but the one with 80 is a better project then they deserve to go on the front page.

I actually think you're right, but then again, if the project was extremely popular, a lot of people have already seen it.  I think the idea of having a curator is to show the community good projects that haven't been seen before by most people.  If a project has 60 views, and another project that is better has 3,000 views, I think that the 60-view project, provided that it is at least good enough to be worth mentioning, should be put on the front page because not as many people know about it.  3,000 is nowhere close to the number of people that use Scratch, but the number of people that actually use Scratch is much lower than the number of Scratch users (does that make sense?).  That's still a lot more than 3,000, but do you see what I'm trying to say?  It's less likely that people will know about the 60-view project, especially if it's an older project.

I know but what I mean if the difference isnt that huge just maybe only 40-50 views then I would pick the better one

On that point I do agree with you.  Given the choice between a good project with 40 views and a project that has 8 views and is not as good, I would also pick the better one.  I just wanted to elaborate a little bit on your idea by saying that if a project was extremely popular, there's no point in selecting it for the front page.

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

I would like to be a curator because Scratch has influenced me in many ways. I have met great people who have inspired me in going beyond my limits. I would like to give back to the Scratch community who is a great group of people. I enjoy complicated projects, that show the potential in what kids can do now. I also like music projects, i have always loved music and now have joined a Scratch band. I enjoy just about any project but those are my favorite types.

Good speech. When asking to be curator, it's always a good idea to make sure you have at least some favorites on your my stuff page. When searching for curators, we often look to see what kinds of projects the prospective curator has favorited.

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

I would like to become a curator because I know what sort of things people like or what they would like to see, I am good at deciding what would be good for the front page. I wouldn't just put my friends projects up I would go for anybody's girl, boy, 'famous', moderator, whoever as long as it seems worthy of the front page, I prefer games myself, like tactical games or challenging ones but I would put up other things like funny animations, http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/AlinJack5671/1964169 , cool stories, http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Astro947/1814980 and other things like that. I would also like this opportunity because the only time I have been involved with the front page is in the 'newest projects' section so this will be a kick-start in my scratch life. this would also get me more involved with scratch itself other than posting projects and comments. I am working on a project called 'mouse trap' where you make a maze for a mouse and it will have traps on it so you can get rid of the mouse before it gets back to its hole with the cheese it stole.

Well, I know that New Scratchers aren't picked for curators, but what's the case on this? He's been on the main site for almost an year, isn't that even better than being on the forums for an year (In this case)?

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

Hello, I'd like to be a curator. I find the front-paged projects a problem. The projects that are most popular are barely even programmed, such as animations or art. I would choose the projects with the highest effort, concept, and programming.

A game with bad physics and little effort isn't worthwhile. I believe those unpopular but breath-takingly amazing projects need to be known, also giving the brilliant creator a chance in Scratch fame. By projects I don't mean bloopers and funny animations.

If I were a curator, I would select projects that are examples to the Scratch community of what should be front paged and what should be popular, not what made me laugh.

I hope you get selected, you seem to have a good taste in projects. Many times I don't like the curated projects because they choose Mario games, bloopers, and sometimes unknown Scratcher's projects that aren't necessarily good.

I'm warning you, none of this namby-pamby nonsense about 'New Scratchers'. I am going to be a curator or you will live to regret this. I need to choose the best projects, not those that people say are all that. My view is brilliant. Or Else. Remember that. Me a curator of you living and regretting this.[/blocks]

I think they're even less likely to pick you if you threaten them.
