It may seem impossible (and to be realistic, it probably is), but why not try to make a speech simulator in scratch? You could type in a word, and it would say the word out loud.

I can set up some sound clips for you... me and my dad have been experimenting with text-to-speech for a long time.
I could also help with the GUI (I have Photoshop Elements).
Plus, I temporarily suspended ScratchCAD, so I could probably take this one on.

I could, after my short couple day vacation. It would probably work by sounding out different syllables, and then putting them together.

Whoa, that would be the awesome if you could make that. I hope you succeed!

Sounds interesting. You should make it an open ended script so that you can put it in games etc.

I could help. I already have some ideas.
It goes in steps:
1. Identifies a letter combination( a, b, ch, th, etc.)
A. Looks at letter
B. Looks at word for clues if it is a certain letter(like has a silent e but get doesn't)
2. Using two lists, matches pronunciation
A. Pre-generated lists serve as hashes(relations in data eg list(1) = 5 )
B. Relation is identified phonetically
3. Pronounces letter by letter
A. Pre-generated voices pronounce from a library
B. A voice can be selected

wait the algorithm i think will be too slow as scratchs list processing ability is too slow i think the way to make it faster is using heirchical lists or the simple BYOBs atomic interface.

Hey, I just saw this after making a beta project, and wondered if anyone had done this yet.
