Should I let people I don't know in real life be my friends on Steam?

I said in another topic that I only let people I know IRL onto my Steam friends list, reason being I wanted it to be sorta isolated from Scratch. Should I repeal that whole thing? I don't really know. Can you help me decide please? (And if you don't know what I'm talking about, please don't post asking.)
