DiRT 3

Does anyone else play it? It's a rally game game by Codemasters that incorporates numerous kinds of races including Rallycross, Trailblazer, and Gymkhana, with a focus on traditional point-to-point rally racing.

I actually just got it less than a week ago, so I'm still not very good at it, but I'm getting better. ^_^

OoooOOo That looks awesome! If I had the money I'd buy it just for the Gymkhana. Racing is one of my favorite game genres along with FPS. I have NFS Shift and Burnout Paradise[Ultimate box] on PC. But sence I made the mistake of buying them used, I cant go online with either one.

Ah, that's a shame about online play.

Gymkhana is definitely a lesson in frustration at first (it's rather hard) but once you get the hang of it it's a lot of fun.

How is Burnout Paradise, by the way?

Yeah, it looks great. Stills can't really capture how good it looks in motion though.

Great in it's own right, but still not the best (Revenge is much better). It's kinda fun to go wherever during a race, and owning all the DLC for it makes it even better. I own it on PS3, if your wondering. Ran at a smooth 60FPS for me on my PC when I had the demo.

Wow, now I have to decide between NFS: Most Wanted, Driver San Fran, or this. Thanks for making me having another to look at :P

Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, Closer To God, The Downward Spiral, Further Down The Spiral, The Perfect Drug, The Fragile, And All That Could Have Been, With Teeth, Year Zero, Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D, Ghosts I-IV, The Slip, Pretty Hate Machine 2010

Haha, you're welcome.  tongue  While it's definitely not 100% realistic (it has arcade roots), Dirt definitely puts greater focus on realism than say, Burnout or NFS. That's something to take into consideration.

The reason I'm most interested in Burnout is more for the open-world idea. I love being able to just drive around the city and explore. (I played Midnight Club LA on my friend's Xbox and loved it, and I still find cruise mode in Midtown Madness 2 to be a blast.)

To be honest I'm sort of torn between that and NFS Shift/Hot Pursuit.  hmm

Re: DiRT 3

What!? It's out already!? Dang, I forgot about it!

I own DiRT and DiRT 2, but never got really far in either (due to losing interest to other things--I almost never beat a game unless it's really addicting/easy, but I usually come back to it eventually (I did that with DiRT 2)). The graphics are INSANE though!

I've always liked racing/driving games. I have NFS: Porsche Unleashed, NASCAR Racing 4, Colin McRae Rally 2005, and prolly some others that I'm forgetting. Anyway, those are the most prominent games that I can think of.

Yawn.

Well, from what I have seen, Shift is more of your Grand Turismo style game, while Hot Pursuit is more the same old arcade experience we all know and like. I've also heard that Hot Pursuit is free-roam, can anyone confirm that for me (I'm just wondering)? Yeah, it's true Burnout, in an open world setting. Which is either the greatest idea in the world to some, or something to hate intensely. I for one, an on edge with that. It's a good city and all, but it gets boring to me really fast.

If you want a really large, open driving game, Test Drive Unlimited 1 or 2 is your friend. While it may be more realistic in terms of control, the world is huge (Who knew Oahu/Ibiza was that big?). Fuel is also another choice.

Hm... more games too consider. I've heard mixed opinions of TDU2. Same with Fuel. I've also been looking at Grid. SO MANY CHOICES.

TDU is great if your willing to put forth lots of time into it, as it takes a while before you get anywhere. Fuel I can't say much about, as I have never played it much myself.

Re: DiRT 3

Yea Paradise is a great game to play if you want to take a break from the hardcore track racing simulators like SHIFT, GT or Dirt. Its deffinitly one of the most enjoyable racing games i've played, driving a big van or truck head on through traffic or doing a barell roll of a building never getts old, lol.

The big game that im really looking forward to is NFS The Run coming out in november, a cross contry race from San Francisco to New York, and its going to use the frostbite 2 engine, the same one that EA used in Battlefield 3. So its going to be a beautiful game visually and it should have extremely good physics.

The Frostbite 2 engine, really? Ooh, I hope my computer can handle that. Source? ^_^
