The best way is to use a conversion software to convert your video to an audio format such as WAV.

Most video converters, of course, cost money for anything more than say a 30 second conversion. If you don't want to pay, one alternative is to use the conversion feature built into VLC media player. It's not quite as straightforward, but it's free and it works fine.

If you had, for example, a YouTube video to convert to audio, your best bet would be to find a free online video -> audio converter, such as youtube-mp3 (among others).

I'm fairly certain that mp3 files work in Scratch--it just automatically converts them when you import them 

If the video is just on your computer and you wanted the audio, you could upload it to YouTube, set it so it's unlisted (only people with the direct link can view it), and then convert/download it via youtube-mp3.

I'm saying you have to download something if you want to extract audio from video. If you don't want to do that, you should just record the audio only instead of using a video camera. Besides, VLC rocks. ^_^

So if I make a video of me singing it, then upload it on my computer, I could extract the sound from the video to my "music" file and then import it onto my project? If so, how do I do that? Sorry about all my pointless questions.
