Possible answer to the 60 second rule.

Most people dislike the 60, and I know New Scratchers have the 360 second rule, but I think there could be a solution that keeps the purpose intact, and answers the pleas of certain enemies of such a restrictive rule.

As most know, the 60 second rule is used to prevent spam caused by Scratchers. How? When one can not "spam" posts so often(only once per minute), than the spam count from the user does not accumulate quickly, and can be abolished, and the user can be warned, or punished.

The 360 second rule does just the same. It prevents New Scratchers from spamming, but of course, not all New Scratchers have good intentions, so the Scratch Team must make sure New Scratcher activity can be monitored as such.

But what can we do?

Of course, we should not demolish something so helpful to our community. So to get to the point...

How could a new rank work? What I am proposing is the "Trusted Scratcher" rank. Such a rank would be presented to the number of Scratchers who have shown time, and proven trust to the community, the Scratch Team, and our team of Mods. With this rank, those who truly deserve such a rank will know not to abuse it, and will post responsibly.

Such a rank would not abolish the 60 second rule, but merely strip the burden from whomever deserves to be able to have more will on our wonderful community.

I know the previous was long, and you only probably skipped to the end, but I think this could work. Such a thing could not make the community any worse, now could it?

Thank you.

This has been suggested many times before, and rejected many times before.  wink

I believe this is something Scimonster suggested once. Lots of people have been wondering about a rank higher than Scratcher but lower than Moderator, but I don't think it's ever going to happen.  sad

So what's the point of the trusted scratcher rank if it's a moral prize?  tongue

Re: Possible answer to the 60 second rule.

I partially agree, but there's a couple issues to this solution.

First of all, the Scratch Team would have to keep up with double the upgrades -- first from New Scratcher to Scratcher, and then from Scratch to Trusted Scratcher. It would take time away from the mods, and possibly more mods would be needed (which isn't always a good thing, remember).

Then, I would be completely against having this title publicly shown. It should be a hidden administrative thing, and trusted users' titles should be kept as 'Scratcher'. The trusted user himself shouldn't be notified of this change openly -- he/she could find out, for example, by seeing he/she can post more frequently than once a minute.

A last clarification I would like to make is that the 60 second rule still shouldn't be abolished completely for this rank, but rather greatly reduced. Maybe around 15 seconds.

I suport the idea, but I don't think enough people support it for it to become a part of the Scratch forums.  hmm

This is exactly what I think  hmm
But, I don't really think there should be a Trusted Scratcher rank neither, because 60 seconds is a small amount of time, the correct amount to find a post, post a helpful thing, and then check it again, making sure you wrote everything well. I really see no reason to have less, I mean, everybody would ask for it, as most people on Scratch are pretty impatient. It'd be worse than New Scratchers asking for 60 second rule (which isn't much of a problem, though. I only see it on first threads).

With a straight flush.

Re: Possible answer to the 60 second rule.

OK, I think Trusted Scratcher sounds kinda weird. What if a Trusted Scratcher spams? Then he can't be trusted anymore...
