I don't think that it's pointless. What about wii, android, blackberry, etc. They deserve to be scratched on too. 

hey camp500 my name's grant I'm 10 (too). I would love to help with scratch going mobile since I know HTML, javascript, and i also have an ipad 2 i could test on and even though you probably have already have ipod touch testers already but i have an ipod touch 3 and 4 im not great at advertising... lol but i would love to help out with coding. Last night i was looking into away to do this i was thinking html 5 but guess javascript works. just drop me a comment/friend! don't just comment cuz then i wont realize

okay so do we even have a rough draft of what it looks like yet? If not... Here our some of my ideas...
My favorite idea is that we wait for mit to make scratch be available to make on the web. They said they're gonna make it through flash so then we take one of those adobe flash to html5 converters (not that hard to find. I've seen 2 in the last day) and since html 5 is compatible w/ the iphone/ipod touch AND ipad (we need to make it for ipad also! we then have our selfs something that will be mobile maybe not optimized for screens yet... but mobile. then we release a beta version when we're making it better optimized for screens. then we have it right there in front of us!
