Holy cow. Minecraft?

Okay don't laugh at me but holy cow almost I always see on this site is this: MINECRAFT. So what is it? I mean I think I have an idea but I just want to know, it is driving me nuts not knowing it.

It's an extremely popular and addictive PC game made by an indie developer. You can find the pre-alpha version here which is free, but is nothing like the paid version. Maybe watch some YouTube videos of the beta? The Yogscast (YouTube channel BlueXephos) do pretty good Minecraft Vids! It's still in development, but it's still very awesome!

That was the classic version. Which is before the Indev and Infdev which where before the alpha. The alpha was the paid version. Until it updated to beta.

sorry! I just call it the alpha as I never had the Alpha, and used to think that that was Alpha. Pre-Alpha, then  tongue

Re: Holy cow. Minecraft?

Pre-Alpha is actually the indev (in development).

Classic is actually a finished version. Call it classic.

What does infdev mean? So Classic was the finished pre-alpha?  hmm

Re: Holy cow. Minecraft?

No, classic was made before everything.

Classic was finished before everything and is not being developed on.

Infdev is infinite development and is after indev.

Pre-alpha, or stage before alpha, is in/infdev.
That's cause indev and infdev actually are not a creative mode, but survival.

Re: Holy cow. Minecraft?

First, there was Classic. This is finished and is not being worked on anymore.

Then there was the Survival Test. As the name says, this was a test for the survival part. It was free but only on the site. This was removed from the site after it got a big change.

Then, Indev (In Development). Survival.
Then Infdev (Infinite Development). Survival still.

Then Alpha. As far as I know, this was the first one that you had to buy (correct me if i'm wrong). Still Survival.
Now Beta. Again, still survival.
