Hey dude, I'm really sorry you feel that way. You see, for some reason, Kamesh feels like he doesn't have to tell you what's going on. Personally, I don't agree with this. I think it would just be easier for him to tell you what's going on, but I do rescpect his choice; he may be very busy. Well, since you're a programmer, go to the In Use folder in Dropbox. Then, look at all the scripts, and see if you can find any programming errors or bugs. If you do find any, please tell me. I'm very sorry for the miscomunication
. Thank you for your patience.

Wait, wait, wait, wait- HOLD ON. I don't feel like I don't have tell him what's going on? Read the 16th post on the 12th page of this forum and tell me what it says. Hello, all! I'm now back from holiday, and I'm happy to help you out with anything you like.
I've just got onto the DropBox, and will have a look at everything there. Is it okay if I share the folder with my own DropBox account, to make it easier? Thanks!

You can do that [folder sharing], also if you don't know what we are doing right now, you can read all of the previous forum pages or I'll just explain it to you.
We're making a game where the Scratch cat gets kidnapped someone named Jak, and the player has to go around the world and play minigames (based on the theme of the country) to get a clue to where the cat is is. Right now we all just picked a country, and made a minigame based on it, they are all in dropbox. You can pick a country and do a minigame on it. After that, we need a programmer to string all of them [minigames] together and and a story/script.

I've kept up-to-date on the forum, so I know roughly what we're doing. I've been going through all the minigames, and will post my thoughts about each of them in just a bit.
I'd be happy to help string the minigames together, given a script to work with.

I'm also from the UK. You mentioned somewhere about having animations between each minigame; I don't know exactly what you were thinking, but would it be a good idea to have a world map that zoomed in and out between countries? It could include a plane flying between them. It would fit with "Team Earth", and it could also be marked with the usernames of each member of the team, showing where in the world they live.

I like that idea, once we get the order of the countries finalized, we can use that ex. show the player flying from Brazil to Germany. Also, for the usernames part- we can use that in the credits and the end or at the beginning. (I like beginni)ng

Here's the order of countries:
japan -> america -> france -> mexico -> africa -> brazil-> germany -> japan -> romainia -> canada -> india
We still need someone to do the mexico, germany, and africa minigame. If you could pick one of those countries, it would be a great help.

Personally, I'd say they'd fit better at the end, but it's up to you.
Is this still the latest version of the script? Ah; I see it is.
The order of the countries there doesn't seem to fit with the minigames; does it need revising?
Whoever compiles them together could add the world map in the process; I'm still happy to do that.
When will all the minigames be finished? ie, when are we going to start putting them all together?

If you don't mind, I'd rather try and fit them together first. I have a feeling that it could involve quite a lot of work, so personally I'd rather we did that first than run out of time...

I'm sorry Kamesh, I did not mean to offend you. I am not trying to pin anything on you. Even though you replied to him, I don't think he saw it. That's why he kept asking. I thought it would just be easier for you to tell him one more time, instead of letting it get to this. Again, I am not trying to pin the blame on you, or anyone. It is just as much my fault as it is anyones. I just don't like to see myself or anyone get ignored. I respect you and your leadership; I just want everyone on the same page.

I originally wanted the username/credits part at the end, but I was afraid that people wouldn't read it. If you think end is better, we'll put it at the end. Also, this is the latest of the script- no one has updated it yet. We're replacing australia with Brazil. Dinoclor is doing the same thing as you so if he's online, you should talk to him. And for the order of the countries, just re-arrange them with the script or vice versa, the order isn't really that important, as long as the clues fit.

First we need to make all the minigames and finalize the script, then we can string them together.

Compiling all of the minigames together
I see. To me, it sounds like compiling them into one project is a job for just one person; so if Dinoclor is happy doing it, that would probably be best. I'm still happy to help out, or do it instead if he'd prefer.
kamesh wrote:

So roughly, from what you've said, the plan is for:
• each person to finish their individual minigame
• everyone (else?) to finalize the script
• someone (Dinoclor?) to link the minigames together
Once this is done, we can all play the finished project and then polish it into more of a coherent whole, ready for August 11th.
Do we have a list of which minigames are finished, and how much work each one needs?

Here are my thoughts so far on what everyone's been doing. I didn't want to hurt anyone by actually changing anything, or worse — overwrite their changes.
Perhaps just a personal thing, but I find timed speech bubbles — "say hi for 2 secs" — are always either too long or too short. Isn't it better to give the player control, so they have the choice to click past them? Perhaps they could be replaced with something like:
I appreciate that it would be a big task to replace them all; happy to do it myself (:
Each minigame, in no particular order...
Canada:
The background is nice. The leaves fall down quite nicely, but would it look better if they had some sideways motion as well? Perhaps something like:
In terms of gameplay, the leaves all start falling at the same time — which means the best strategy seems to be moving the basket really quickly from side to side, to catch all the leaves at once. I found it better with a randomised start time for each leaf; this made it much more interesting, although the exact values and the win condition may need tweaking.
Japan:
I like that this one has more of a story. Perhaps technically difficult, but would it be interesting to make the player rub away the dirt on the binoculars? I'm sure it could be done, with some excessive use of stamp-ing sprites, and a sprite to detect when "not <touching color(dirt color)>". Happy to try it if it is a good idea..
Romania:
Well written dialog (apart from the "science project" sounding slightly implausible — but then I don't know what Romania's like...
). Oh, and I like the music!
The challenge seemed quite easy — would it be better if the bats' speed slowly increased? And part of the code stated 10 bats, while the dialog mentioned 20...
Brazil (Soccer):
It took me a moment to "get" it at first — probably just me being a little stupid. It might be nice to have some feedback each time a goal is scored, as I didn't notice at first — perhaps just flash up the word "GOAL" or "SCORE" or something?
France:
I like the map of the country at the start; it fits nicely with the world map idea, too.
I like the grey scratch cat as Jak; could he be used in any of the other minigames, too?
Finally, I'm not sure what happens next; it's not clear how this relates to the other countries/minigames. Was it just me, or is the clue not in there yet? I'm sure this could be added when the projects are linked together with the script, anyway.
India (Cricket):
This one also feels unfinished; not a criticism, just means there's stuff left to do, I suppose. Will this one have a background? And what will the win condition be?
~
I think that's all of them; please tell me if not!
(When I was looking at them, I tweaked some of them slightly — for example the leaves on the Canada one. As I said, I didn't want to hurt anyone by changing anything, as there is a lot of good work here — but if you're happy, then I can share my (slightly updated) versions on DropBox.)
