Re: Incorrect Password Messages

I think if you enter a password wrong a few times, you can't get in the account for a little while.

Re: Incorrect Password Messages

Maybe you can control how many incorrect password messages will be in your inbox at once?
Also, if someone DOES hack your account, they would delete all incorrect password messages from previous tries, wouldn't they?

Re: Incorrect Password Messages

Yes and no.
I'm a pretty fast typist, and sometimes I screw up.

If my password was password, I might type it as passwird.

But if a hacker was trying to break in, I'd really appreciate that.

I vote YES as long as it tells you the IP address of the person trying to log in. If the IP was mine, I'd be fine. If it wasn't, I'd know there was a hacker.

Re: Incorrect Password Messages

There definitely should be this feature (however directed towards the paranoid)

Maybe a checkbox in an options tab?

Re: Incorrect Password Messages

This would be a great idea, but with a twist-If it's in a computer you haven't logged into a lot, it would give you a notification, and not every time, once per day per IP. Or something like that. That way it'd be perfect  big_smile

Re: Incorrect Password Messages

The "stop sending me messages" Idea is good if you're someone with a complicated password. I think when you make a password the site should say if your password is weak, okay, or strong. Then, people who are worried about getting hacked could feel safer.

Ah but what if someone tries to hack in and you block their IP but maybe in a year or so you buy a second-hand computer and it just so happens to be an IP you have blocked  sad . There is a chance that it could happen.

Possible, but unlikely. I've heard that there are sites that let you change the IP address. Not to mention, this suggestion doesn't say anything about banning an IP address.  tongue

I'm not exactly sure if that's practical. Some people have a tendency to punch their password wrong a couple of times over (I'm one of them because my password is complicated.  tongue   ).

LOL, so its not just me!  tongue  Thats why I decided to have it send messages to the user instead of locking them out permanently. What if you locked yourself out? That wouldn't be good!  tongue

It's happened to me a couple of times on Photobucket.  tongue

Locking yourself out doesn't prevent you from resetting your password, though. If someone manages to lock himself/herself out, the person can always reset the password through your standard e-mail reset link.  smile
