Scientists have created a living computer that actually thinks. It's 'brain' has lots of wires, with neurons and other stuff crisscrossing around. It's not just some lame 'AI' run by a database. It's actually a REAL brain, and the computer thinks. Not just picking a random phrase, it generates thoughts. It... is alive. It can navigate around by itself, without any help.
Anyone have any thoughts about this? It was on Through the Wormhole.

It's NOT Watson. (Nearly typed Wheatley there for a second...
) This one navigates around a lab.

That stands for GLaDOS.(almost.)

I don't know, but this one DOESN'T play Jeopardy.
EDIT: And Glados is Genetic Life-Form and Disk Operating System. Notice the dash, there's no space.

No, who is the Genetic Life Form and Disk Operating System that can navigate around a lab?

I wonder how they did the neurons... and it would be incredibly expensive to manufacture, but if they could get millions and millions of tiny, simple neurons, they could build a human-like brain. Of course, it probably wouldn't be as small as a human brain, but maybe it could be as fast.

That sounds disturbing...

No, it isn't real- "GLaDOS, short for Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System..." [1]

Naw, I think he's just confused. Too big of a coincidence for the title of the machine to be GlaDOS unless he did it on purpose, which he didn't allude to in the first post. Of course, this thread might just be a joke...

Real proper AI? Nice!
Must be really stupid... but how does it know what to think?
Programming something like that in Scratch would be cool

Umm... I was joking about the title. The name of it isn't GlaDOS... I made the title 'GlaDOS' to get people to come.

I hope we won't... They might give it carbon monoxide! AAAH!
On a more serious note, you'd have to do lots of other stuff to even make a brain with scratch.
It's like our brains, it reacts to stuff. It can go around and explore areas and learn about places. It's not really programmed, it LIVES.
