I was wondering if the forums could use a "visual" forum post editor, similar to Microsoft Word where there are buttons that you click on instead of manually typing in the BBCode. It isn't ENTIRELY visual though (clicking on the buttons should only type in the BBCode for you, not make the text look bold).
If you want more details, you can see my project about this: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/a1130/1958120

This is actually supported in PunBB -- I have been testing a PunBB-based forum on my website, and it types in the BBCode for you.

But this isn't a PunBB forum.

That's interesting. How come it's not on this forum?
EDIT: Actually, isn't the Scratch forums based on FluxBB?

From the source code of the forum Index:
<div id="punwrap">
<div id="punindex" class="pun">
I place my bets that this is powered by PunBB 1.2 - which looks like this:

It would be helpful if a moderator/Scratch Team member could tell us what it actually is.

The Scratch forums are powered by FluxBB, which is actually related to PunBB, thus the similar appearance.
I think a more "visual" editor would be nice, since the brackets can be a little cumbersome to use at times. I suppose like everything else, it would depend on how difficult it would be to add. (Forum modifications aren't exactly at the top of the list of priorities right now, after all.)

This is an image of FluxBB 1.2:
Looks a lot like PunBB 1.2, eh?
(Oh, and you have to open the image in a new tab or it won't show. Just click on that "No image" icon and select "Open in new tab.")

All they would need to do is update the forum software to a newer version of FluxBB. I don't know whether all of the posts would remain.
