Good idea, if you want to spend 10 hours doing the melody line.

Personally, I use OpenMPT, which is a tracker, but if you want piano-roll, get LMMS, and if you want sheet music, try MuseScore. OpenMPT is the least buggy, and also the least of a CPU-Hog, but also doesn't have the best GUI.

Music making software is for people who can't play instruments.

Can everyone who uses Audacity play guitar, bass, flute, and drums? My mallet percussion and drum kit sound bad with my horrible mic.

I play guitar and bass yet I still occasionally compose music in FL Studio or write sheet music in Noteflight. In fact playing an instrument usually makes it much easier to compose music.  tongue

Noteflight is an online sheet music editor that lets you export to MIDI and WAV.

Re: What music making software should I get?

Yeah, I've been playing piano for 6 years, guitar for 2 years, drums for 2 years and bass guitar for about a month and I like playing around with music making softwares.

Stereotype, veggie, stereotype.

If they can make music, then they're just as good a musician as others.

Re: What music making software should I get?

I'd recommend Mixcraft. I use it, I think its perfect for anyone who wants to start making their own sound tracks. it costs $75.00 but you can get the trial version for free.

Heres more info:

I'm pretty sure I know a few people who play instruments and use music making software. :3

Re: What music making software should I get?

OpenMPT, LMMS, and MuseScore are all open source.

And by the way, even though LMMS stands for Linux Multimedia Studio, there's a version for windows.
