I've seen some projects that have this, and I don't completely understand. If credit is properly given, remixing can be a good thing!
Discuss both for and against remixing.

I think remixing is good, but if somebody doesn't want their project to be remixed it's fine. And it's bad if you copy it and change it minorly-You should only do it if you change it a lot. I wouldn't want somebody to remix my projects with only changing one thing that's not that big. Or adding something that's not so important. But I wouldn't get mad anyways, if people want to do that, they can

I think they mean 'please don't duplicate this, I spent a lot of time making this'

I hate that! On my old account, lucari0, I made a project called Scratch X OS, which was curated and took me months to make, was ripped off several times with few changes (basically somebody changing 2 words). I also got hate comments because people were jealous including somebody saying (don't report this I'm giving an example) (this comment was removed): "This is the most stupid (replacing r-e-t-a-r-t-e-d) and n00by thing I've ever seen!" and the person who said it ripped it off themselves and said that me making a music note as an icon for music copying somebody I'd never heard of who wasn't even finished with their OS!

sorry about that...
But really, PLEASE don't report it. I didn't say that to anybody, and again, just giving an example.

Anyway, I think that what the mean is that they worked hard on it and don't want other people to cash in on their hard work; especially if they get far more views than the original creator. Ex.) A new scratcher makes a really good game and somebody famous like SpriteMaster or jonzo copies it and says they made it themselves and found out how to avoid the thing that says it was remixed (not saying they would).

I don't really mind... even if it is essentially the same project with a new name In fact, I often go on remixes of my projects and compliment them. They are usually just the same project with some colours changed

Like death wish said, sometimes people will essentially just download and re-upload it, saying its theirs. Also, i can understand if someone put a ton of work into it, they dont want their idea stolen.

Okay that's just stupid - it's pretty logical to have a music note as an icon for music (see iTunes).
Of course if credit is properly given it's fine. In fact that's pretty much the reason why the "based on [person]'s project" bit always appears below remixed projects. I don't see why people make such a big deal about it.
Though I once remixed a project by joeyman here, just to fix a small feature. And that version of the project got Top Viewed and Downloaded shortly after, I actually felt kinda bad since I pretty much had a minute of fame with a work that was mostly someone else's. Just sayin'

Actually, that happened to me once too. I remixed one of Aki-w's projects to fix the platforming aspect, and my version got featured.

Oh yeah, I remember that. Didn't it get curated?

No, I'm pretty sure it was in featured projects.

If it's a person's personal space and hard work they've put into it, then it's no wonder that people don't want others to remix their project.
In a similar situation a lot of Minecraft LP'ers don't upload their world for download as they believe it is their personal space to lose themselves in and giving it away doesn't make it special anymore.

I'm happy to see my projects remixed, and don't even get upset if it's just renamed and uploaded. Doing that is pretty lame, but the remix credit is there, and if people like it, they may follow back to look at my other stuff. If remixes upset you, don't upload - remixes (and learning) are what Scratch is out there for.

I understand why people don't want there projects duplicated, but scratch project are uploaded by a 'Creative Commons' license, making it so ANYBODY can download and do whatever they want to the project. But if uploaded after a change has been made, it will come up as REMIXED, giving credit to the person who created the original project.

I rest my case.

I am not new to Scratch, but I have only posted one finished project and one in progress. (I have about four on my computer still in progress, though.)
I feel slightly insecure about people downloading and remixing my work, but once I start posting more projects and that actually happens, I won't say anything about it. If they try to take credit and say I dowloaded it from them or something similar, I can just prove that my project is older.
I can understand older Scratchers being used to getting their projects downloaded and remixed, but newer Scratchers such as myself have insecurities about this, as I mentioned before.
I'm sure once my projects have been harmlessly remixed a few times, I'll be desensitized.

They must have a new message for remixing... I got one a little while ago and it says something along the lines of
"Your project ____ has been remixed! Check out the remix! People respect and are inspired by your work!"
Remixing, IMO, is nice... But there will be those few people who abuse it and upload a carbon copy of your project (has happened to me before).
