Why does Scratch use Friends

What is the purpose of the "Friend" feature on the Scratch website?  All that happens is that it notifies you whenever they upload a new project.  I think a better term whould be "Subcription," or "Follow."

Please correct me if the "Friend" feature grants more capabilities.

Re: Why does Scratch use Friends

No, that's really only all it does. The Scratch Team has actually expressed an interest in possibly making changes to the friend system. See this thread to read more and give your input.

Re: Why does Scratch use Friends

You have to accept both each other as friends to be friends. If you 'subscribe' or 'follow' then you don't.

Uh no you don't have to ask someone's permission to add them to your friends list ^^
