It's not good virus defense. Its the base system, and lack of users that makes it so you don't get viruses. iPods and stuff CANNOT get viruses, as you cannot download anything that's not reviewed by apple. Macs nobody uses ( tongue  ) so people don't make viruses for them.

my dad's school only uses macs in all computer labs and rooms, my aunt uses macs, and i use macs. some of my friends use macs. the mac store is always crowded so


yeah, mac could have a virus going for it but i think they work pretty hard to prevent or block them once they occur

Personally I'm not a Mac fan. I think the interface is too oriented towards graphics instead of functionality. That's why Apple makes good iPod's and tablets: the interface on handheld devices is supposed to be easy. It's also the reason why Windows Mobile doesn't work well, IMO.

That said, I own a Mac too (kinda). It's cool to play with occasionally, but for working I prefer one of my Windows machines: Vista, 7, or XP. Sure, they might be more prone to viruses, but Microsoft also puts some effort in to block them. Macs are less likely to get infected because Apple has an almost dictator's control over the applications that most customers purchase. A good measure, but horribly restricting to us developers.
