He is actually quite right. The more people focus on the arguments, the more arguments happen.

Now that isn't exactly the right thing to do. The less attention attracted to a flaimbait post, the less likely somebody will react to it and trigger a flamewar. Just click the report button without saying anything and let the mods do their work.  smile

We need to cut down flames and make this a better place for everyone. I agree with every good opinion like the one about exaggeration causing some flames itself.

Re: Getting through this dark age.

If anything, we should be brainstorming solutions to this problem. I say we cut down all Minecraft, Portal, etc. threads to just one official topic. Maybe in the case of Minecraft, one for general discussion of the game and one for servers.

Great idea, we got to ask the mods to bring this issue to the Scratch Team.

Re: Getting through this dark age.

Yep. But Minecraft seriously needs a separate thread for servers imo, otherwise the official topic would get really messy.  hmm

If you don't mind, let's discuss more ideas to fix this problem - it may not be big but it's a problem still, one that has been on since long time.

Are you saying that fads should be given an official topic by the Scratch Team or mods? What about simply creating them yourself?  tongue

Re: Getting through this dark age.

I don't get why everyone acts so innocent. The three main arguments all have their respective problems:

Minecraft: A Lot of Topics
Ponies: A Lot Of Images Everywhere
Portal: References Everywhere

They all manage to derail threads and such in their own way.

I'm pretty sure the mods and Scratch Team monitor the Miscellaneous forum, so they are aware of the situation. ^^

Cheddar just re-stickied a topic in the forum about proper forum etiquette in response to the fights that have been going on, you might want to check it out here: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=64012

No, Red we mean cutting down topics into a few topics so there is less overpopulation of fads in the misc.

Re: Getting through this dark age.

Why not just ignore the threads related to the fads? I can see a lot of threads in Misc right now that are not related to Portal, Minecraft, or ponies in any way. ^^

As long as everything stays in its appropriate thread, it should be fine.
