Mods: if this is a TBG, sorry.
Post what it was like when you joined. So much the same, yet so different.
Mine:
• JeanTheFox and floatingmagictree were still active
• The only moderators I ever saw were cheddargirl and Wolfie1996

That's basically how I was, except there weren't list blocks back then.

- I didn't know how to post a topic or reply XD
- I thought Scratch was just a blog site
- I didn't know how to use speech bubbles
- I thought other users were either 3 year olds or old dudes.

* I didn't know the forums existed at first
* I made little animations and games.
* Cheddargirl (Or any of the other newer mods) weren't mods yet
* I thought scratch was the friendliest site ever!

It's 1337 (leet)
It's some silly thing people like to do
The number 1337 signifies leet or elite
back on topic fellas

I recognize the number is not special in any way, I just wanted to pat myself on the back :]

It's 1337speak for "leet", as in "elite."
-I probably didn't know about the forums either.
-What I could do in one script now probably took my 4 scripts then, 3 of which were forever loops.
-I had no idea what broadcast blocks did, and I didn't know about lists.
-I viewed and commented on projects. (I really should start doing that again...)
-Once I did join the forums, I remember that coolstuff would somehow reply to nearly every topic in AAS, Suggestions and Troubleshooting within minutes.
-And yeah, I remember lots of people that aren't active anymore, like SRR and Jeanthefox.

That's what I did too... and I used lots of key pressed hat blocks that could all be put in one forever loop

When I first joined, there were only a handful of moderators, and the Miscellaneous forum didn't exist! Nor did Inspiration and More section of the forums. It was a simpler time...
There were also only a few people who used the website! Ahhh, those were the days.

I'd like to do that again, you know...

when I joined back in November '09, I made a pacman game with my dad. we had NO idea what variables were, how to make walls you can't pass through, and in the game, player 1 and two couldn't hold down the arrow keys because we used the hat block

When I first joined Scratch, I actually didn't plan on staying - I just joined because my programming professor was using Scratch to teach us C++ and suggested for students to download programs from Scratch and look at them as a way to study code!
Let's see what else I can remember...
-> Jens was still a Scratch Team member
-> the curator slot didn't exist
-> the Inspiration and More forum was all just one forum, and the TBG forums was a forum section all on the main forum site.
-> I always wrote the word "Scratch" in all caps.
-> there were no front page restrictions, so people could have been on the front page more than once at a time
-> 1.3.1 was the current release

- I ignored the forums until a year or so later,
- I kept viewing the same projects,
- I didn't really upload much,
- There were no lists,
- Maki-Tak wasn't famous yet xD,
- People were more easily satisfied with projects (back then even basic scrolling was impressive, but now even the higher class scrolling is considered usual)
