avast! (it is spelled always with a lower-case 'a' and exclamation point (!) at the end.) It can be free or you can pay for extra-safe web transactions (which is not necessary). It keeps your computer safe (completely saved mine once), so what more could you want than a strong, free antivirus? avast! is the best.
