Alternative rock

Discuss alternative rock and it's sub-genres (indie rock, alternative metal, grunge, industrial rock, etc.) here.

If you like it, what are your favorite alternative bands, albums, and songs?

Finally, a topic on my favorite genre.

I love the American Idiot Broadway musical soundtrack, which would be considered punk, but when I looked at it's description on iTunes it said Alternative, therefore it is my favorite type of music.

Re: Alternative rock

Anybody here like Killing Joke? I guess they would be considered post-punk, but there's definitely alternative rock in it. So I think they count.

Re: Alternative rock

Also, the Dandy Warhols ROCK! Nobody's heard of them, but they're awesome alternative rock and they've been around since the '80's. When I was 9 I emailed one of their members from their website and she responded. That was awesome, to get an email from a famous-ish person.  tongue

MGMT's good.

I like The Killers' first album, but everything after that was kinda mediocre.

Also, check out "Requiem" and "Eighties" by Killing Joke. Good stuff.

My Chemical Romance- Alternative rock, post-hardcore
Green Day- Punk rock, pop punk, alternative rock
Elton John- Rock, pop rock, glam rock
Rise Against- Punk rock, melodic hardcore, hardcore punk
Eminem- Hip hop
The Beatles- Rock, pop
Breaking Benjamin- Hard rock, alternative rock, alternative metal
Three Days Grace- Alternative rock, hard rock

So it's My Chemical Romance, Breaking Benjamin, and Three Days Grace, like you said.

Oh, and anybody here like Nirvana?
