Save a pic of something, Click change picture, hit browse, and select the pic you want from where ever you saved it. If it's too big try to compress it on websites like tinypic and coolituls. With animated ones either save a picture thats already animated or combine alot of your own pics to make your own on sites like createagif.net.

Lets say you wanted a pic of a pie. Look up a pic of a pie on Google images. Right click and save the pic to your cpu. Go to your page and click "Change Picture" browse through your pics until you find the right one, and hit ok. You have an icon. For moving ones, look up, lets say, a pie GIF (which basically is cpu talk for moving pic) and do the same thing. The making your own icon thing is complicated and I should'nt have even mentioned that to a beginner. Stupid me

Well, you need to have the image you want to use saved to your hard drive. (Make sure it's less than 90kb - right click it and select 'Properties' to check the size.) Go to your profile page and click 'Change picture', which should be right below your current icon. A button should pop up that says "choose file" - click that, and a file dialog will appear. Browse to where you saved that image, select it and click "open" in the file dialog, and then finally click 'update'. (Note that it may take a couple of minutes for your image to appear everywhere on the site.)
