duplicating during the game

I am having trouble in scratch trying to make a project in which you draw on a triangle and it duplicates itself into a snowflake... I'm trying to use a method where you draw on it and there is a sensor moving up and down across the triangle and when it touches the pen marks to go draw it around the other stamp prints of triangles, but I can't figure out how to get it to do this. Can someone help please?

Here's a similar project that might give you some ideas...

Or this one...

Both of these use trigonometry.
