Bonjour!

Hello, I am new to the Forum and to Scratch. Right now I work at a Boys and Girls Club day camp. I am responsible for doing computer projects with kids as young as 3 and as old as 17. I was having trouble finding something for the older kids. The projects I would come up with were to much like school. Then I came across Scratch! Thank goodness! I finally have their interest and attention. Next I am going to work with 8 year olds and I am nervous. So far I have only worked with the older kids.

Another obstacle I have to overcome is since I live in Montreal, Quebec Canada, I have to teach in both English and French. Sometimes I have trouble with the Scratch terms in French. I'm learning.

I used to know Flash very well years ago, but I did not keep up with the software.

I love looking at people's projects. I don't really want to become "known". My goal is to keep the kids occupied and learning.

In the fall I teach senior citizens. I am going to show my intermmediate and advanced class how to Scratch!

I find the Flash cards really helpful, and of course for myself, I find this Forum helpful.

See you around everyone!

Re: Bonjour!

Hi, welcome to Scratch!

These forums are used mostly by our younger users. Since you're an instructor, I would suggest making an account at Scratch ED (a website designed for Scratch in education in mind), if you haven't done so already.  smile

Re: Bonjour!

Well I think you'll be fine teaching the younger kids age 8 because thats the youngest age Scratch is supposed to be used for (I think). I'm not exactly sure if the elderly people will, um... get it... but I think you'll be fine with younger kids. I wish I could help you with the French but I don't know a thing about it (Well, except like Bonjour and Salute and stuff)
