I get occasional project trolls, they are nothing to fear. But its forum trolls i hate. If you just make a helpful reply to someone, or leave a helpful post, they just reply with a nasty comment, and make a flamewar! Then, they accuse you of being a troll. I would name one who is on the line between a troll and a criminal on the internet, but I don't want to get banned. What should I do?

When online, always remember the golden rule: Don't feed the trolls. Of all the things to remember, remember that. If you fight back, the troll wins. There is no arguing with a troll, or a hater for that matter. Just ignore them, and report/flag the post.

Yeah, but this troll keeps talking like he's sophisticated and mature, and claiming I'm a troll.

And don't forget making use of the almighty Contact Us link.

Alright, I might use it. I hope it will vanquish the evil (insert criminal here).

Ah, I know who you're talking about! Me. However, I think you are in a big overreaction over this. I am not being a troll, and you weren't being a troll. It was a rather small argument. When I got in my first misc. argument I made something similar to this that was foolish and immature. You grow out of it eventually.

And I I think I know where this is stemming from.
You'll noticed I dustbinned the entire argument (and I would suggest both of you not to resurrect it again). I left a message to the Scratch Team to look over the arguments and sort out the matter.

ok thanks
it shouldn't be a big problem really. (although I suppose I'm gonna get another admin message or something)

From what I've seen, most argument cases result in all parties involved getting a message. I don't know about that since the case is out of my hands and each case is unique.
I am surprised that no one reported it, though. [Do people really not make use of the "report" button? Everyone here should be familiar with how the report button works already considering that they all have "Scratcher" status].

Thanks, and sorry.

I didn't consider it a big enough problem to report, neither of us were really getting vicious.

I usually prefer stuff being nipped in the bud right away (from experience, lengthy arguments, regardless of who started it, are usually a sign of trouble). It spares the forums from a potential flame war later on.

when i was a whippersnapper me and floaty-boy would always fight
i guess you eventually grow out of the "RAEG" stage but some people are just naturally sarcastic and some are naturally babies
so flames are always gonna happen
(wait what were we talking about again)

Hey Cheddargirl, thanks again for sorting it out. Mods are so helpful. I think that since we sorted it out and contacted the ST, you can close it now. And also, please nobody troll this post and say that you don't bump a topic to close it because that is mean and I've gotten those trolls before.

this is like the fiftieth topic about trolling. and another inaccurate one.

Actually, you hit the "report" button to have a moderator close this topic, you don't bump it. That is probably why you keep getting flak over it.
Since I saw the post, I'll go ahead on close, but for future reference: report, don't bump.
