Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Just saw it...It was epic!  They stuck to the book pretty well, though the final fight wasn't the same, but much more the same than I thought it would be.  I'd definitely recommend seeing it.

Same. But The HPs are OK. Percy Jackson was horrible.

That case is where the books rocked but the movie SUCKED.

Half-blood Prince looked awesome and turned out terrible. The previews for 7 part 2 are just okayish. Let's hope it's good because I'm seeing it tonight.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Might qualify as my favorite movie ever.

*LOTS OF SPOILERS* (If you've read the book it's fine though)

It was really good, pretty much every big thing from the books was put in and the only added in stuff was some pre-battling before Voldemort dies. (And he does die by the right cause)

Every character had their moment in it. (Molly killed (and cussed off  tongue ) Bellatrix, Neville killed the snake, etc.)  And I noticed Neville had a much bigger part in this movie than the others. (Just screentime in general) And it was cool about how pretty much every actor that's said a word in one of the movies came back for it. (Cho Chang, Seamus, and others had minor roles)

The whole story of Snape was in fact told, but that was the only scene that actually felt a bit prolonged to me. And there was one moment in the scene where it made Dumbledore sound despicable. He mentioned how Harry dying was the only way to win, and Snape said something about how that's like a pig waiting for slaughter and Dumbledore said "Don't tell me you're starting to care for him" as if Dumbledore didn't care for Harry. I guess it was somewhat redeemed in Kings Cross scene though.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Bump!

Totally awesome movie, I highly suggest it. @People saying the movies don't do justice to books, I can honestly say this one practically changes nothing. It's great and the best one in the series.

What are your guys thoughts that have seen it?

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Well, I just saw it, and will probably make some people mad by saying I didn't like it much at all.

*Kinda spoilers:*
Little attention to detail (Fred and George have all their ears, the basilisk has all its fangs when they pull one out - one should be missing, the multiplied gold should be burning hot, no gradualism to the relationship between Ron and Hermione, etc.), they draw out the climax way too long, most of it was guff, and they had to include all these useless effects when a Horcrux is destroyed.  Voldemort even vaporizes for crying out loud!

They also leave so much important stuff out or just leave it as a passing thought (Goyle's death, Kreacher, the Sorting Hat, etc.)

Man, I'm really not liking many recent movies.  It may be modern bias, it may not.  I just don't like them much.  Some recents are good, most aren't to me.

Kreacher wasn't in this part of the book at all was it? You can blame Part 1 for that.

Abotu Goyle's death, I was waiting for that and Malfoy shows up to the Room of Requirement . . . with a black man? I saw where Goyle fell into the fire but that's not even how he's supposed to die.

What's the sorting hat do again? Haven't completely read the seventh book in 4 years.  tongue

But I found all the stuff that they did include that didn't directly relate to the main plot (which honestly, you expect them to take away a lot more than you listed) was awesome. And all the cameos were awesome way to say goodbye.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Saw it last night. Really good.

And the reason that Crabbe (or maybe it was Goyle) was replaced with a different actor is because the previous actor is in prison for drugs or something.

They could have gotten one that at least wasn't a different race.  tongue

And the thing where the brother wands spells collide like in the fourth one, when he killed Voldemort they weren't using brother wands anymore. But it happens that way in the book to doesn't it?

Yeah, I think it does.

Hey, I just realized, at the end of the movie, Harry didn't fix his old wand!  In the book he fixes it, but in the movie he threw away the Elder Wand before he fixed it!  Movie-Harry isn't all that smart  tongue

Lol. It's kind of weird thinking that he didn't even use his real wand to defeat Voldemort.  tongue

But I was more wandering why it could happen without brother wands.

And I swear I remember him giving away the stone and wand to Ron and Hermione and taking the cloak in the book. (They didn't really mention that he was master of death in the movie, just that he had the wand)

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Yeah I noticed that too, why didn't he fix his wand?!
The movie was pretty sad. It was intense though, they did it pretty well... There were some parts that were kind of stupid though. The part where it's like "And that's why Harry can talk to snakes" flashed to this freaky teddy bear in his room for some reason, and the part where Harry jumps, taking Voldemort down with him, wasn't good. Also, why did everyone on the bad side evaporate when they were killed?
Overall, I think they stayed to the book nicely though.
When I went every seat was sold out and pretty much everyone was a diehard fan. I think if you said the word "Twilight" everyone would turn on you immediately XD

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

@soupoftomato, no, in the book he dropped the stone in the forest, kept the cloak and fixed his old wand with the Elder Wand and I am pretty sure he then put the Elder Wand back in Dumbledore's tomb

And did anyone notice that Prof. McGonagall sent the Slytherins to the dungeons o-o

I must say the battles between Bellatrix and Molly, and Harry and Voldy weren't as good as I'd hoped.

Now that I think about it all the battles seemed a bit weighted.

It was always the good character casting a ton of spells while the bad one did nothing. And did anyone think the special-effect graphics almost declined a little? (E.g. Bellatrix frozen in air looked rather fake)

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

This is kind of off topic but I'm pretty sure part 1 is gonna come out in 3D. I think this because there were a few scenes (like nagini striking out at Charity Burbage) that would look good in 3D and look as though they were intended for 3D.
