The Summer 2011 Community Moderator Election is about to begin!

None of the current moderators are retiring at the moment, but there is one (1) new seat available. While we’re thinking about ways to expand the role of community moderators on other parts of the site, right now we’re looking for someone who is interested in helping out primarily on the forums (especially Miscellaneous). As with previous elections, all candidates need to have their parent’s permission to become a mod, and meet the rest of the criteria described on the Community Moderator’s page.

(You’ll notice that we’ve lowered the age limit for community moderators from 14 to 13.)

We will announce the list of candidates on Tuesday, July 19. Elections for the single open seat will be held Thursday, July 21, so be sure to login that day to cast your vote. Results will be announced Friday, July 22, after which we will begin the confirmation process with the parents of the candidate with the highest number of votes.

Feel free to ask questions or discuss the elections on this thread. If you wish to nominate yourself as a community moderator, post a brief statement on the nomination thread.

That would be nice, but I would probably wait another year so I can get back into my old routine. Life for me has been hectic lately. smile

A new position is open? Sounds exciting! It's always great seeing how the Scratch team will take on members of the community to help out, it makes the team seem a lot more like regular members you can relate to, and of course having people moderate us who know what life on the fora is like in the eyes of a Scratcher really helps create understanding smile
