Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Come on guys, we've got one for Pooh but not for Harry?

Who's going to see it midnight release/opening day/at all?  big_smile

I think I might be going to midnight release but it just depends on if my dad wants to go at 12 at night.  hmm

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I honestly haven't watched a Harry Potter movie since The Goblet of Fire. They just don't do the books justice.

Eh, I think depends on the viewer. Personally, I rarely find any book-based movie doing the book justice (unless it's a good action flick, since movements have a tendency to capture action better than words alone), but that's just me.

I don't know if I want to go see the movie on the big screen, I probably
would go and rent it out once it goes to DVD. ^^;

i love the books and the movies.
people can't expect everything that happened in the books to happen in the movie- how would they fit it all?

well, i guess that's where splitting into part 1 and part 2 comes in handy...

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I dunno, to me it's the kind of movie you have to see, but you won't like much because it isn't like the book.  Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I usually like movies about books to stick to the details.

In my opinion the HP movies stick to the books way more than most ones, for example in Lord of the Rings they cut out an entire character.

Dobby.

True, they did cut Dobby out of Goblet of Fire, but he is a known character. In LOTR they cut a character from the entire story.

Same. But The HPs are OK. Percy Jackson was horrible.

I am going, after part one was great part two should be awesome. 5-10 minutes of Harry VS Voldermort will be awesome, it was only a paragraph in the book. I read the entire series in 2 months.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I would want to watch the midnight release, but my movie theater is always packed, so I'm going to watch it opening day.

In the case of the book-to-movie justice, I think that the movies were made so that anyone could enjoy them. Some movies you really have to know what the books are about to enjoy the movie, so producers tend to stray away from that. I think the producers have done a good job of appealing to both audiences for all of the movies except Deathly Hallows Part 1.

Hm, well the dream flashes can get really confusing if you haven't read the books. I think that the dream flashes should be longer but still not give away too much information. (E.g. actual dialogue and talking but don't tell names because that's the part that Harry doesn't know or whatever)

Anyway, I've ordered tickets for Midnight release, the first theater was already sold out so we bought tickets to the second. (Theater = room not the Cinema as a whole)

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

If you read the books and have kept up to date on movie info, you'll know many Harry Potter fans are worried about what the final movie will be like.

For those of you less committed and probably quite ignorant, the final Harry Potter movie comes out this Thursday night, or more accurately, July 15th.

SPOILER:
What I'm most worried about seeing is the final battle between Harry and Voldemort, because what I've heard is that it ranges all over Hogwarts and lasts 20 minutes, where in the book, it lasts about 2 minutes and is just them circling each other talking and it's all finished with a single spell by each.
END OF SPOILER

So anyway, things to discuss:
Are you going to see the midnight premier?  I am!
Are you nervous about seeing the final film and if the director messed it up?
What's your favorite movie and/or book of the series?

I think it's cool that they are extending the final battle.
Still won't be as good as the books.
