Getting hosted on a Scratch domain sounds epic
@sparks: The comment system sounds great, go ahead and put it in!

We can have our own menu bar, yes, and we can probably do Scratch-style logins but people don't really need to log in unless they're submitting a block unless we have commenting... I have built a comment system that could easily be adapted to our site if we need it, complete with quoting!
I was also thinking we could have a "test" button, where you mark a block as tested. It could say "marked as tested by ..."
And for logo competitions...
I think staying logged in would be useful.
I'm going to make a mockup on my new weebly account. :3

The commenting system is for my website and there are a few problems I still need to overcome and changes to make on it before I can use it for Scratch!
o change graphics to match colour scheme
o get quoting to work
o show a scratcher's picture next to each post
o add a report button
o remove HTML usage
That last one is tricky, I can't stop people from putting HTML in posts and posting something like <font color='green'> without a </font> tag will leave all comments below it green also which is a nightmare! I can't work out how to get BBcode working in it either

Alright, Andres has emailed me the connection details for blocks.scratchr.org, our soon-to-be new domain! He was incredibly secretive about all the FTP details though, making me delete all the emails he sent me etc. I've asked him if I can pass the details on to you guys (the developers) but he may say no. If so, do people have suggestions as to how this could work other than sending each file to me? One solution would be to develop pages on the site11 site, then move them to the new site when they are completed. Then only small changes would have to go through me!

the first, place holder index page is set up now at http://blocks.scratchr.org. Changes so far is only the button names at the top of the page, but it looks good!
Would someone be interested in redrawing the [SCRATCH] imagine.program.share in the corner and coming up with some form of [SCRATCH block library] request.create.share (or some better slogan than the one I've come up with off the top of my head)

Yeah, I guess so.

Hey guys. I've made a mockup of how the new site could look. I did NOT spend tons of time, and therefore nothing has the distinctive Scratch container:
Please note also, this is still a work in progress; I have not made the last two pages yet. :3

Looks interesting, I like the layout, I like the idea of FAQ help links on the home page too! Newest blocks is both possible and a good idea! I'm thinking that block views, loves and comments could be a fun feature too!
In terms of the block viewing page we can have something graphic like that, but we're also going for a search form where categories and applications can be ex/included.
Andres does not want the FTP details passed on which means that if people could look into front-ends so that certain users can upload to the server without password details that would be great, it was his suggestion!

Yes, I was thinking of that too, but didn't feel like adding it right then.
Yes, I included a spot for search. Did you see the drop-down thing? That's for advanced search.
What about passwords but not FTP?

Nope. we will have to work out how to build a file uploader ourself and make it only available to specified Scratch members e.g.
if($_POST['username'] == 'sparks' | $_POST['username'] == 'meowmeow55'){
$t1 = ltrim(file_get_contents('http://scratch.mit.edu/api/authenticateuser?username=' . $_POST['username'] . '&password=' . $_POST['password']));
if ($t1 == 'false'){
echo "The password was incorrect.";
}
if( $t1 != 'false'){
echo "welcome to the admin page, " . $_POST['username'] . ".";
}
}
else{
echo "This Scratch user is not allowed to access this page.";
}meowmeow55 has made a file uploader before, perhapse his/hers could be modified?

Alright. So I've looked into file upload systems and it would take a ridiculous amount of time to build for this site, My suggestion is that we start applying the new layout and graphics to our current site, as well as continuing to develop on that site. Once a page is done, it can be moved to the new host. For "news" sections and soforth we can actually use MySQL so that site librarians can update the home page including HTML. All the developers have my email so updates can still be done that way to a page

I'm a guy
And I'll whip something up when I get specific details. You can chat with me/PM me on my site for quick access/private stuff.

on site11 or on scratchr? The site11 stats page seems to be working fine, you can always refresh. The stats page on the scratchr.org domain does not yet exist.

I'm here!
So what should I do? What job?

Yes. He said it's benign.
I did a small update to my mockup, you may want to see. It's a bit more realistic now.
