"Ain't" is a word actually.

I absolutely hate it when people say it. We have the right to say it if we're annoyed.
I don't mind text speak that much, if it's not used to extremes. But when it is, I'll complain about it. Simple as that.

That's because this is not a text.
Normal forumers speak English, not this crazy code of nonsense.

if u get annoyed by people doing that, why annoy more people then text talk does? because we have a right to speak like this: "hey im new 2 the forums" or ur starting a flame war by making topics bout flame wars" and we have a right not to use periods

How old and complete is your dictionary?
If you have a complete one from the past couple years or so, I think it should be in there.

True, I often contemplate my reasons for using proper grammar and my only response was absolutly selfish.

a huge one from i think 1998 to 2000. (lol i originally aid 19988)
but i just found a 2004 dictionary with aint in it. i still dont think of it as a word. and i wouldnt guess that by saying "this aint MSN" that it would be proper grammer, since "aint" sounds more like are not or am not to me.

I think "isn't" is more generally accepted, but "This ain't MSN." would also work.

Discuss what i said, and if text talk annoys you. also discuss if people getting upset about text talk annoys u. OH NO I SAID U INSTEAD OF YOU! NOOOO!
Wait, you want us to ignore you because you speak in text talk?

This is why I wished Scratch was like Vizzed in the fact that you will get warned after having too much improper English.Well, people really shouldn't be getting all up in each other's faces about the way they type. As long as the message is clear - that's really what matters. It takes all kinds to make a world...and some of them use text-talk abbreviations

Let's try and be welcoming and helpful no matter how people type.
Let's try this again. Straight and simple. People talk in different styles (accents, word choices, etc). People also type in different styles. It's not a big deal - we do not have a standard typing style defined on these Forums. Communication is the key thing.
There are some areas in life where grammar and punctuation are very important (international treaties, writing laws, writing computer code) - but this is not one of them. Read the Terms of Use - do they mention anything about how you should type? They do not. They do state that you should try to keep the community friendly though - so give that some thought.
