Ok, here it is, in black and white. Simplest form. I normally try to keep a calm and reserved attitude here on Scratch, but there is an issue that NEEDS to be cleared up.

So here, it goes. I've been looking at a lot of front paged projects, and I've notice people posting things like this: (note this is a made up conversation to demonstrate my point)

No offense, but why is this project front paged? All it is is a single screen with a line of text and no coding.

Or:

I guess this is Ok, but I would do...etc.

You get the point. These people present their point, while trying to be as inoffensive as possible. They present their points with FACTS not "oh this is so boring" or "this is stupid111111".

Then, the groupies descend on them and post junk like this:

Can you do any better?

Or:

You're stupid

Or:

SHUT UP AND GO AWAY

Or:

Is this really fair? NO! If a comment leaves suggestions on what to improve, it is considered constructive criticism. The mindless fanboys (or girls) swoop down on these comments and bombard them with comments while spewing HATE.

Just to salvage my credibility, I am a long time member of Scratch. I have been here longer than about 80% of you, and I've seen things. Anyone here remember Doody? Or the NEAR WAR the fanboys caused? Probably not. Anyway, if someone doesn't like a project, that's THEIR opinion. And if a lot of people dislike something, it means one of three things:

1. That thing is NO GOOD

-Or-

2. The thing in question is total trollbait

-Or-

3. They LIKE DIFFERENT THINGS THAN YOU.

Just because you're obsessed with Astro, Swifty, or MrMime doesn't me other people have to be.

Doody made some poorly drawn mice things that got really popular, people backlashed against it and it grew into some huge thing.

I was only here for like the end of it though.

A couple years ago, a user named Doody (she's still on, too) posted TONS of projects (at least 15 a day). The thing is, they were PICTURES (think stick people drawings). Even worse THEY KEPT GETTING FRONT PAGED.

And she had fans, too. Lots of 'em.

So it went on like this for a month or two until a group of people, who didn't like the fact that these projects were getting front paged all the time, told Doody so.

And her fans were MAD.

They started flagging the "haters" comments and projects. Finally, Doody was banned for using multiple accounts to post negative comments (one of the first Scratch conspiracies).

A little while later, after hundreds of "Bring back Doody" petitions, projects, and fan-art; Doody was unbanned, and she has been to this day. Nowadays, she doesn't post as many comments or projects, and her drawings actually have gotten (slightly) better.
UPDATE! She seems to have deleted most of her projects. hmm

People were really harsh on Doody hmm

But she deserved at least 10% of it because she was 2 of her haters.

@Topic - I agree. I am not offended by asking why an update of mine is front paged because I never like that. But you don't need to type a paragraph explaining why it's garbage. I agree. big_smile

Technically here it is in black and grey. And yeah, I agree. And I am proud to say that I am in the remaining 20% from '07. I still remember when 1.2 was a big deal. Remember Jewel RPG? I still stand by my judgement that it's the best project on Scratch. I wonder what ever happened to that Scratcher.
