About People Getting Mad About "Text Talk"

I'm making this post perfect in every single way so I don't annoy people. Why get annoyed with text talk? Just stop reading the post if it annoys you! Don't comment about it, because that probably annoys more people than just talking in text talk does.

Discuss what i said, and if text talk annoys you. also discuss if people getting upset about text talk annoys u. OH NO I SAID U INSTEAD OF YOU! NOOOO!

Re: About People Getting Mad About "Text Talk"

I don't mind a little bit of text speak (like using "u" instead of you or some abbreviation), but when someone is like:

That's because this is not a text.

Normal forumers speak English, not this crazy code of nonsense.

It's sort of like someone poking you. Over and over. And it annoys you so much you can't ignore it. You would ignore it. But you can't. You know that adults also use this forum, right? Not only texting-addicted teens...

This is why I wished Scratch was like Vizzed in the fact that you will get warned after having too much improper English.

Re: About People Getting Mad About "Text Talk"

Ugh. Bugs me so much. I don't know why. Do these people have a rule that says you can't spend more than 30 seconds typing, so they say ppl instead of people? Are these people's shift keys broken?

Re: About People Getting Mad About "Text Talk"

I'm annoyed when people use text talk, but I'm even MORE annoyed when people spell obvious words wrong, like the word "here" is spelled "heer" on purpose. Believe it or not, I'm a grammar freak and I rarely text talk, and if I do it's nothing more than u for you and ur for your. (And LOL and those things)
MY MORAL TO NEW SCRATCHERS: Don't overdo the text talk. It takes more effort to find a way to spell something wrong deliberately than to spell it actually the right way. And people won't be happy when they can't undetstand what you're saying.

imnotbob, you're not overdoing it. Overdoing it is when nobody can read your posts.

Well, people really shouldn't be getting all up in each other's faces about the way they type.  As long as the message is clear - that's really what matters.  It takes all kinds to make a world...and some of them use text-talk abbreviations  smile

Let's try and be welcoming and helpful no matter how people type.

Re: About People Getting Mad About "Text Talk"

It seems wrong to ignore a person's posts just because their writing style is annoying to read. If it's mildly legible, I try to answer their posts but also ask them to write more clearly, and I don't see the harm in doing that.

Also: I find it much more annoying when people write in LOLspeak, eg. "HAY GUYZ CHEK OUT MAI AWSUMLY KOOL PROJECTZ!!! LOL XD" It's fine with LOLcats, but when inserted into out-of-context posts it looks really immature.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

I find it hilarious that all of imnotbob's posts so far have at least 1 error.

I mock your pitiful English.

Try to ignore it. I would, but I'm too busy on raging by that point. I start reading thinking it could be productive, then I start to rage.

Imnotbob, the problem is a lot of your posts ignore punctuation altogether.
