Recently, when I try to upload simple projects, they only load about 1/5, and it stops. The program doesn't freeze or anyhting, but still.

Oh my, that's a tragedy.
If it stops at about 1/5 of the way, it may have to deal with the firewall. Or it could be your internet connection. Check the size of the project to see how big it is (if you haven't already). It may well be a problem with the Scratch server, although everyone else seems to be able to upload fine. Did this problem happen will all projects, including a blank project?

The files are very small, the ones that I were trying to upload. I'll see what I can do.

Ok, I'm trying to upload a new project cuz I haven't for the longest time, and once again it will not upload. It stops about 1/8 where it is saying "Connecting to scratch.mit.edu...", and it stops there. My project is only 805KB, which is only 0.8 MB, so it definately fits. I disabled firewall and tried loading it, but it sadly did not help. I also don't use some Proxy school thing so I'm not worrying about that, so I'm really confused. Why can't I upload it? I'm guessing its having trouble connecting to scratch.mit.edu, but I can easily access this website with internet explorer so I am puzzled. Any help?

Hmmm. That's a puzzler. Do you have any kind of parental control software running? What operating system and browser are you running? Is there another computer (maybe at school or the library) where you could try an upload and narrow it down to either the account or the computer?

I have found that a project will not upload if you have the scratch home page open in one of your tabs. Maybe you could try closing the scratch website (if you have it open.) I hope that helped!

Actually I don't have any parental software running on the computer I use for scratch. Believe me, even my Dad is puzzled, and well he's a programmer and he's quite a computer whiz. I have 2 computers to use, but the different one which I'm currently using (I switch between whenever I feel like it) does not have Scratch installed, and my Mom doesn't want it to become really slow. I mean the computers are just below average as far as well speed. And as far as operating system and browser..... I use Windows XP, and I use Internet Explorer 6. I also currently use Scratch 1.3, the latest one (not counting the testing version)
This problem started about a year ago, and I couldn't upload anything, and thats why I stopped using scratch, because I was unable to upload. Of course I forgot, and now I remembered
. Do you think I should download the 1.4 preliminary version to see if that might help? I mean it can't makes things worse, right? *gulp*

Before you go installing 1.4: You said that the computer does not contain any parental software, but what about security software (like those designed to defend against viruses and adware?)

Some tips:
• Shut down all antivirus and anti adware software
• What changed the moment it stopped working?
• Did yo try shutting down Windows Firewall?
• What software is running on the computer that stopped working and is not running on the one that still works?
• Check the process list and google for the processes you (or your dad) don't know.

I've tried firewall, but I guess I'll try other things like McAfee...
I'm not sure about what change, after all it all started a long time ago, and if my dad did something and then I couldn't upload projects he probably would have said something. I really don't know (neither of us actually)
I'll check your processes idea...
Thanks for the help, every bit counts guys. I'll try to figure out what to do.

So is this topic resolved?
Seeing as the last post was two years ago, I'm sure it is.
