As I mentioned if they redesign it in flash Mac users will not be able to use scratch because of apple and it's ridiculous ban on Flash.

OB6160I have a 2009 Mac Mini, and it has Flash.
Necro Bump much?

It won't be in Squeak, but rather Flash, as said before.
And also, I'm pretty sure Macs can run Flash. ^^
C++ would probably be too hard though. For the Scratch Team (scrap the whole 2.0 already? ) and users (

where is your evidence / proof that its the squeak virtual machine which is the bottle neck?
perhaps they could package a faster squeak virtual machine? i heard there was recently some performance advances in some squeak virtual machine.

They can't do this because if they even tried they'd:
#1 - Have to redesign it from scratch (oops)
#2 - Make it easy for beginners by scripting a very hard script
#3 - No longer let it be open source (let's face it, who wants to learn c++ when they're 8)Who wants to learn Squeak or Actionscript when theyr'e 8?
I did.
LOL .. trust me C is the best solution after Squeak . I found out an amazing way to hyperthread in C++ and now i think scratch would be b8r made in C or JAVA as they are made for optimisation
ACTIONSCRIPT is not even a REAL programming language .. i think this might be starting a war but ACTIONScript is a Scripting language with different motives much as JAVAScript (u wont ask scratch team to write Scrach on JS ??? will ya ?? (though it would be much faster then FLASH ))
and C++ is the easiet programming language! . (this is me saying that after coming back from php , JS , AS 3.0 and lots and lots) because of the basic fact that its the oldest

i know well its really easy to write it on C++ then flash :$ ...
why ?
because C++ can use hardware arguments, low level coding , no need to optimize code (ah what will u optimise more then C???? its the fastest already!)
ON THE OTHERHAND
after writing a 3d engine on flash , js , c++ and C# (yes the easiest is the last perhaps)
i found that
the speed order is
Flash < JS < C# < C++ i think C would have been a b8r solution but as it has like 0 support for network based programming thats why Flash got the upper hand!

Hahahaha. i code at C++ myself and i know how hard at C++ will be to make something like scratch and the nxt version of scratch is going to be on Flash . though i think squeak was much b8r then flash but its promising to be epic!
Flash?!?! I bet people with mac's will have to stick with the old version.

-1 What are you talking about? Flash works fine on Macs.

No, squeak is perfect for the job. Plus it is the only programming language I know very well. XD
