Good idea? This will get rid of many spammers/trolls. I think this is a good idea. Vote plz. Maybe how about only posting in "New Scratchers" "All About Scratch" "Requests" and "Troubleshooting"? That way, if they need help they can post there.

I think this is an idea worth considering...it wouldn't be very hard to circumvent, but it would shift the focus of forum discussion a little closer to Scratch, I think. Have you made a Scratch Suggestion for this idea?

True it wouldn't be too hard to circumvent, but it would still make them download scratch first and they might not want to spam that bad if they have to download it first and make a project.
I like this idea! Though i would recommend only for forum posts. I don't see too much comment (on projects) spam. besides, you get a message if you have already posted a similar message in the comments.

That sounds like a great idea! I totally support! I do want to point something out though, what happens if they're having a problem posting a project? The forums is pretty much the place a lot of users go to if they're having problems, not being able to upload a project is one of them.
I still support of course, but maybe it could give you 5 "free trial posts" only in the troubleshooting section that way they can ask for help if they're having problems with uploading a project.

Sounds like a good idea... but then... what if a new scratcher needs help?
Maybe scratchers with no projects can only post in the New Scratchers forum?
That way they can introduce themselves and get help.

I'm not sure if this is a good idea. There are a lot of restrictions in place for those with New Scratcher status, and changing to the regular Scratcher status already ties in with being active on the main site (which includes having projects uploaded and making comments). Additionally, if a New Scratcher needs help, they probably will be utilizing comments and/or forum posts for help.

I think that this will not stop trolls, it will instead increase spamming in the project world. People will just upload the scratch cat and be on their merry way here.

New Scratchers are already have forum restrictions (largely, they can't post in Miscellaneous). I can't find any other reason for restricting posting in other areas such as Show and Tell, Requests, Collaboration, or the Other Languages forum, as they may find a need for those.
