Taking apart a DVD player...

Our Aldi DVD player finally broke (in a ripe old age of almost 2 years)

Anyway... I'm taking it apart, what should I keep?

Btw. It doesn't have a HDD.

Re: Taking apart a DVD player...

Try to reassemble it into something cool. Or keep the case and build a computer in it.

Re: Taking apart a DVD player...

I took apart a dvd player before. It was obvious what the fault was. The circuits were fried.

Find someone post count. Click posts under username. Find number of pages. Times that by 40 for min and 60 for max and you have a rough estimate of post count.

Save the DVD in side of it, if there is one.

Re: Taking apart a DVD player...

I usually salvage everything I can.

Things to try:

Get out the laser and connect it to a 9-volt battery

Get out the motors and make things move

Stuff like that.

Re: Taking apart a DVD player...

I take alot of things apart when they die, and keep the parts for making stuff like motorized toy cars, speaker systems, and flashlights.

I would keep the motors, screen at the front, and any electronic components (like resistors, capacitors, chips) you can pry off the board

All good stuff!  Don't forget the power cord, transformers, and any switches you can free up.

to add to what I said before, you should probably google stuff about the laser before you connect it, because it has 3 pins but only 2 are needed.
