A few months ago... the talk was all about runescape... now its about minecraft. Is this because the new minecraft came out? I've tried minecraft classic in my browser and there's nothing much special about it...
But I admit I don't really do much runescape either
So... pros and cons anyone?
Oh, and keep this civilized won't you... no 'MINECRAFT SUKZ!' or anything please!

Buy Minecraft Beta. If you play Classic you have a version thats been outdated since like '09

Minecraft is overpriced and overhyped
Runescape has bad graphics and gameplay, and is overhyped
Try Arcanists. It's made by Jagex as well, but the gameplay is different from the ol' right click and wait.

Minecraft is both: Classic inspires creativity, Beta just sucks up your money...

beta also inspires creativity
and just cause they're on the same language or what ever doesn't mean they're similar.

Yes, and I hated it.
Classic is fairly fun; gives you creativity and stuff.

If you think you're gonna see that you're off your rocker. RUNESCAPE SUKZ Is what you're gonna see. I've played it, threw it out the next day. Minecraft pwns the world + Check Norris

Arcanists is a ripoff of worms. Steel sentinels ftw!
Minecraft may be overhyped, but it's pretty cheap compared to other games.
EDIT: Rabbit, have you even bought the game?

Yeah . . . because the $60 Xbox games aren't doing that . . .

I know that Runescape is sort of a game where you train your wizards or whatever. (I don't know much about it.) But I've heard it's not free. If you wan't something free, you might want League of Legends.
Minecraft is completely different, because it's sort of a Survival game. But some people are obsessed with building things, which means you want GMod, where you can build custom stuff that you can control.
But Minecaft vs. Runescape? Kind of like apples to oranges.

So... what exactly is minecraft? I mean what's the ultimate goal?

There isn't really one. You basically survive, mine as much as possible, explore, make maps(since 1.6), whatever. It's a sandbox game, although he will add scoring and adventure mode, which will add a goal.

No ultimate goal. Here's a description I heard:
The only sandbox game where you can make your own sandbox, build a glass castle with glass that you smelted in a furnace that you made, where you can then blow up the castle with sand and creepers, and then rebuild it.
In 1.8, Notch is adding creative mode back into beta, AKA, creative with beta items (
Redstone!)
As for runescape, it is OK, but too repetitive, and you have to grind.

There are the very miniimum achievements that he's updating

@jji7skyline:
minecraft is MINE, it's what I make out of it. If I want to make a huge farm, I can do that. If I want to make a mine that gets 500 iron, I can do that. If I want to be an uber-nerd I can make a computer out of redstone that runs minecraft. If I want to be an architect I can InvEdit some items and make my own world. If I want to be a hunter I could get SDK's guns and Mo'Creatures and hunt. the list goes on and on.
@Gbear: Stop throwing me or I will get Steven Colbert on my side. (see my signature)>:-O

I looked up how much RuneScape costs. It seems to be about $5 a month (correct me if I'm wrong).
Minecraft is 20 bucks.
So, for the first 4 months, Runescape is cheaper. After that, Minecraft is cheaper.
If I played both for a year, MC would be $20; Runescape would be 60 dollars!
Runescape, to me, looks overly complicated and makes you do repetative tasks for a long time to get a reward.
Minecraft is better because you can pretty much do anything you want; no grinding.
