Mosaic effect not working in java player

The project http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/calculus/347735 works when downloaded, but not on the java player.  Whenever the mosaic effect is used, the robot sprite disappears.  When the mosaic effect is turned off (for the solo) the sprite reappears.

Is this a known bug in v31 of the java applet?

(Sorry I've been gone from the forums for so long—I hope to have some time to do a little reading on the forums during winter break.)

Re: Mosaic effect not working in java player

Hi Kevin,

so wonderful to see you back to Scratch!

I've just had a look at the project you pointed out, and the mosaic effect works fine for me online and offline. Does anybody else see this error?

Re: Mosaic effect not working in java player

Hi Keven, great to see you back!

The project is working fine for me in the Java player.  I am running Java version 1.6.0_10-b33.

Re: Mosaic effect not working in java player

Hi Kevin,
welcome back!
I also see the mosaic effect online in your Animation. Good idea to use it for getting a whole robot-ballet.  I like your music choice Golliwogg's Cakewalk a lot - I wonder if Claude Debussy ever thought of robots dancing to his composition :-)

Re: Mosaic effect not working in java player

It’s great to see you on the forums again.  I did not see any problem with running the project online.  (I’m using a Windows XP PC with Java Version 6 Update 7)

I've updated my text adventure game.

Re: Mosaic effect not working in java player

Martin, the project is not mine but was done by user "calculus".

It's good to hear that it is working on other people's machines, as he wanted to show it to his art teacher.

The java player we were using was on a Mac running OS 10.3, so the problem could be an older version of java, rather than the java player itself. I'll try downloading the latest update to Java for Mac 10.3 and see if that fixes the problem.

Re: Mosaic effect not working in java player

I downloaded and installed the latest java available for Mac OX 10.3, cleared caches, and restarted firefox 2.0.0.18.  The mosaic effect is still not working in the java player.

Does anyone else have a Mac running OS 10.3 that can check to see if this is a system-specific problem?   The problem is not firefox (at least it fails in the same way under safari).

The latest java for Mac OS 10.3 is 1.4.2_12.  Do we need java 1.5 or 1.6 for mosaic effect?  If so, those of us still running Mac 10.3 are out of luck.
