The "Subscribe" button on the My Stuff page

How long has Scratch provided RSS feeds for users uploaded projects? I never noticed that button until now.

Anyway, I am pretty experienced with RSS, so I knew what the button did when I saw the orange thing, but the target Scratch audience probably doesn't know how to use it.

I think we should put a "Whats this" button next to it, that opens a page saying something like:

You can subscribe to different Scratchers and see when they upload projects!

To get started:

1) Download an RSS reader
Mac: NewsFire
Windows: FeedReader

2) Go to the users My Stuff page and right click on the "Subscribe" button and click "Copy Link"

3) Open your favorite RSS program and add the feed, pasting the URL you copied

4) Be notified when your favourite users upload new projects!

Re: The "Subscribe" button on the My Stuff page

We have had RSS for a long time!  smile  But I agree, it's not easy to explain what RSS is and why people should care about it. I typically use either Google Reader or Firefox's active bookmark to read my RSS feeds.

Re: The "Subscribe" button on the My Stuff page

Why not just add a message notification that sends you a message when someone makes a new project

Code:

(x) Jamie just add a new project. Check it out! (Project name)

Yeah I think Buddy's idea is good. Because I don't know what RSS is and stuff.

I want the opposite. An RSS feed for messages.
I guess both shouldn't be that hard to implement.

And don't use <code> tags unless necessary. We shouldn't have to h-scroll just to read that.

I know we do - I'm just saying that most people on Scratch haven't a clue what it does, and we need a noob-friendly tutorial.

Re: The "Subscribe" button on the My Stuff page

I think instead of having it e-mail you or something, it would send you a message like when one of your projects receive a comment.

Re: The "Subscribe" button on the My Stuff page

@Jamie - You're right about the rss feed for the messages, it should be that hard to make.(Why wasn't it here b4?)
@Xkhaoz - That would be cool too. I check my e-mail b4 going on Scratch(Also I check the webcomics I read for updates b4 e-mail!  smile  ) And if I get an e-mail then I would know that I need to answer!
