Can anyone help me with this math question?

I really need help.

"Write an equivalent expression. Use the indicated expression for 1

4/5 Use 9/9 for 1."

Re: Can anyone help me with this math question?

I searched it and found a question and answer for something similar on Yahoo!answers,

QUESTION:
Write an equivalent expression. use the indicated expression for 1. (5/6 use 8/8 for 1)?
ANSWER:
5/6
= 5/6 * 1
= 5/6 * 8/8
= 5*8/(6*8)
= 40/48

I don't really get it, but I think this is the process, hope this helps

Edit: oh, sort of get it, not completely. Is there someone you know you could call?

I get it. When you multiply a number by 1, you just get that number (for example, 2*1 = 1, 45*1 = 1, etc.)

In the case of a fraction, if the numerator and the denominator match, it is equivalent to 1 (for example: 56/56 = 1, 5837/5837 = 1, etc.).

So, in this problem, you just multiply the given number by the substitute for 1.  smile

So, for JJROCKER's given problem, he just has to multiply 4/5 by 9/9:
(4/5)*(9/9) = 36/45

Unless there are additional steps to the problem, that probably would be the final answer.

Re: Can anyone help me with this math question?

... Why can't they just say take 4/5 and multiply it by 9/9?

Anyway, glad to see that your question has been answered. Multiplication of fractions seems a little easy though, I learned that when I was 10 or 11. Now I'm 12.
