Go straight to (censored because under no circumstance should I say what this is on scratch for fear children might actually go to it) and post there. Instant meme. It's the meme maker, what made Rebecca black famous, all the rage faces and everything else. I

Re: Any tips on how to start a meme?

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to "force" this as you guys so proclaim. I just want advice. Like, for example, just a website that can help me or a simple way that can be used to inspire other people to use it. A website, perhaps, that I can share it on. Tips on how to start a successful meme. That's all. I'm not trying to force it.

@Bananaman: In thought you disliked memes, but I saw you LOLing at somelia's meme project. What's your prob?

Re: Any tips on how to start a meme?

There's no real surefire way of starting a meme - whatever it may be, it simply has to catch on among other people. For example, the infamous trollface meme started off as an image uploaded to a popular art website - it was only when people started posting it everywhere that it hit meme status; if the trend never spread, it probably would just be an image and nothing more.

[Speaking of which, whatever this meme idea may be, I would suggest not using the Scratch as a testing bed, as most memes here are seen as spam].

Thanks for the advice. I searched "how to start a meme" before and this is what it said:

A meme is an idea, a saying, an action, etc. that people do that travels across generations just like the genes in DNA. Starting a new internet meme is generally a long and depressing process of rejection, but if you've got something good that takes on fast enough, you're set to create a good meme.

1. Be inspired by other memes. For example, "i think x is a pretty cool guy, eh y's and doesn't afraid of anything" was started by a poorly written 4chan thread.[1] Basically, you're looking for a phrase like "so I herd you liek mudkipz" or "this is not my lol face."

2. Find a picture that reflects what you want to imply. Just enter words into Google images until you find something that matches up. If you can't find anything, try changing the phrase or give up on that idea and get a new one.

3. Now this is where the skill comes in. Many memes start on 4chan. However, 4chan is for ages 18 and up, so you may have to go onto another site like it, or onto a forum. You need to post it where it can get a lot of attention and views. A good subtle approach could be to relevantly slip it in a few of your posts on an internet forum that you're a regular on. (I did this in some of my posts.)

Re: Any tips on how to start a meme?

What exactly is this meme you're trying to bring to light? It'll have to appeal to most of the internet if you want it to catch on at all.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Proud member of Dev art right here. You should've seen april fools day. Trollface everywhere!

But seriously, there are places on the internet where memes come from. They're not places children should be on, but they exist. A vast majority of good, universal memes (milhouse not being one of them) come from those such places.

Yeah, and I'm just asking for advice. Also, I determine my own fate. If I decide to do so, no one is going to stop me. I'm just interested in memes because I've been inspired and want to do something big. Another thing, I do agree the internet is kind of cluttered with them, but who says it's wrong to start one of your own? It's something you can be proud of, no matter how silly or ridiculous it is.

Milhouse was a failed meme, but for some reason the phrase "Milhouse is not a meme" became a meme. I don't want to head in that direction, so I'm just asking for advice. If you do want to help, though, no problem with that. I'd gladly accept it. Just because people pitch into help, it doesn't mean it's a forced meme. No forcing going on around here. Just asking for help and advice.

The number one tip-YOU DON'T TRY. You need a youtube account-start posting videos of your everyday life. Maybe something will be funny and become a meme!

Hope this helps  smile

Please, not everything on the internet is centered on YouTube. Many memes have come from other sources. Anyways, why would I want to make myself vulnerable to creeps?

Wear a mask. Like I always do for my YouTube videos. I have like fifteen of them, including an awesome face with my character's hair.
