Here's the grass. It looks rather natural, and it tiles well. http://i52.tinypic.com/2z7kjl2.png

Hmm, it doesn't really fit in with the look of everything else...

Would you mind making it look a bit more like a doodle to match the trees?

Done! Not nearly 300 comments, but you should be able to understand. Ask for specifics if you don't. Also some minor bug fixes, so this is the new version:

Why not look at it this way: Make the trees more like the grass? to be textured? But then, I'm not volunteering to put the texture into the trees, but someone else might do it if it will nicer.

Silvershine, im really sorry. i tried editing some of the scrolling tests and adding my sprites, but i cant! I'm terrible at scrolling! I should probably just leave the spriting to the art people and programming to the programming people.

Don't worry about it!

If you want to keep working on the script though, that would be great! We just need some final edits.

I'll try, but i'm a lot worse at scripting games than i appear

Yes, I'm about to upload one that I've been working on.

Re: Collab project: Butterfly Tree

I'm going to be on vacation for the next few weeks, so I wont online as often. Please make your final edit of the script! We need to start voice auditions soon. To make sure everyone gets the message, we are going to make te animation in a separate project and do a screen recording of it. If we can save it as a GIF, we may be able to import those into a costume of a single sprite, instead of having a lot.

Re: Collab project: Butterfly Tree

I made an Info and non-player charachter chat engine for this project, which I will implement when we get further with the game.

Can you add lots of things to the to do list so I can do some of them?  Or do you want me to fix up the script first =P.  If not, I can work on some of my own projects, which I probably should do anyway, being that I don't have any that are completely my own.

I like it! That would definitely be something we should implement.

I think I understand your new framework! Thanks for the comments.

I also added a bunch of new stuff to the to-do list. I'm so glad you're willing to do so much! Of course you don't have to work on just this. You can take a break and work on other things too!  tongue

Hmm, we're not exactly looking for that style of art... Take a look at the tree's in the most recent project. We want the game to look a bit like a drawing. Can you do that type of style?

Thanks so much for checking back!  wink

What do you mean by that? Put it in the project? You type in each piece of the dialog.  I'll need chatheads for each charachter (Leo, Fi, Teller, etc;) and something for when it is just info.

silvershine wrote:

We need more scroll sprites for a bigger map, is that part of it?

silvershine wrote:

This sounds easy enough, just any specific requirements? Like what voices? or is that obvious in the files? I downloaded but didn't check them yet.

silvershine wrote:

Which sections?

In general, can you clarify a little more by to do? Just don't want to make any mistakes  sad .  Sorry to trouble you, I hope its not hard to do that much explaining in one day  tongue

Re: Collab project: Butterfly Tree

No problem! I have plenty of time... (stupid jet lag.)  tongue

silvershine wrote:

By this I mean to just add it into the project and make sure that it will work well. Maybe a good way to test it would be to add it to the tutorial section by having it explain how to move around. What about "Use the arrow keys to move around and get to the Butterfly Tree!" (Oh, that reminded me that we will have to add some small butterflies flying around the tree. I highlighted the tree yellow that I think should be it.) I think thats all we should do for now. We'll add the other text in later when we have some animation.

silvershine wrote:

I had in mind that we could finish the scripts in the stage that broadcast everything. We could refer to the script for what to broadcast and when. This may come a little later, but why not get started?  wink

silvershine wrote:

I'll probably do this one. It was just a reminder for me. If you want to get started, I was just going to add some lines from the voices we'll need.

silvershine wrote:

Oh wow, I put this in twice. Way to go me!  big_smile

Does that help a bit more?

I will put the info and NPC chat engine into the project at the same link.  Where did you highlight a tree yellow?

Re: Collab project: Butterfly Tree

If you hold down 2 arrow keys at once, you do not move at all.  I saw that in the scripts, is that on purpose though? We could make it be the most recent one pressed? Or could we not? I have no idea how.

That was on purpose because I didn't like how you could move diagonally. I was planning for it to be a temporary fix though. Thats a really good idea to have it be the key press the most recently!

I don't have access to the actual Scratch program at the moment, but the scripts could look like this:
[blocks]
<when green flag clicked>
<forever>
<if><key[ right ]pressed?>
<repeat until><< <key[ left ]pressed?> <or> << <key[ up ]pressed?> <or> <key[ down ]pressed?> >> >>
[/blocks]

Does that make any sense?  tongue

Re: Collab project: Butterfly Tree

I added Diagonal Motion and Scenery Sensing Instead of the color. (NEW URL)

We will have to add more scenery sprites in the future, as well as their names to the sensors.

Problem: Butterfly does not follow Leo well when he is facing a diagonal direction.
To do list item: "Program Fi to follow Leo while moving diagonally.
How to: Add functionality in Fi's script. Comments there will help you a little.

I can't do this part, hopefully you can?

I love that! Fi's movement is REALLY glitchy now..  hmm
