Screenshots

I've noticed a lot of people use screen shots and was wondering if anybody would tell me how to do them?  Is is something with the actual computer, or can you do it with Scratch?  If anybody knows, it would help me very much with a new project I'm developing.

Re: Screenshots

Hi pendragon6279,

you can create a screenshot using Scratch by right-clicking on the stage and selecting "grab screen region for new sprite" in the pop-up menu. Afterwards you can choose any area of the Scratch window with the mouse and turn it into a costume for a new sprite. If you wish to export this costume into an external file you can select "export" by right-clicking on the costume in the "costumes" tab.

Re: Screenshots

On a Mac (the Command key is the "apple" key with the squiggly thing on it):

Command-Shift-3 takes a shot of the whole screen.

Command-Shift-4 gives you a crosshairs cursor, with which you can click and drag a selection to take a shot of.

Pressing the Space bar after you press Command-Shift-4 will turn the cursor into a camera, which will then take a shot of any window you click on.

There are also a lot of other options and things (like changing the filetype of the screenshot from .png to .jpg, etc.) in the Grab application, which is in /Applications/Utilities.

Re: Screenshots

Press Command+Shift+4 on a Mac, then drag the "+" around the project, then release. The screenshot will be saved on the desktop.

If you add Control to that shortcut, it will be saved to the clipboard instead.

Re: Screenshots

The question has aleady been answered, I'm just clearing it up.
On windows you press the print screen button (it might say PrntScrn PrtScn, or whatever else there is). Then, you open paint or some other image editing program and press ctrl+V to paste it/crop out what you want, and then save the image.
On a mac, press ⌘+shift+4, then drag the little crosshairs around, and select the area you want to take the screenshot of. It should save to your desktop. You can also press ⌘+shift+3 to take a picture of the whole screen.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.
