Now you can select which friends can add projects to a gallery but it also introduced this bug. We'll work on it. Apologies.It's a bug introduced by the new gallery system.

What CoolStuff said. Go to their profile page and under the picture is an add to friends button. If it is not there than either you are not logged in or you already have become friends with them
