I was working on an animation for a few hours over the day but now whenever I try to open it up all it says is "Could not read project; file may be damaged: (key not found)". Please help because I worked hard on this with the art and stuff and I don't want to have to redo everything
All my other projects are working fine...

Okay, that is really bad. I hope you don't lose anything. Try to contact Scratch team, or Scratch experts. If I had experienced this before, hopefully I could help you but I didn't. Hope your bug gets fixed.

Thanks... hadn't thought of that. I'll wait a few days to see if anyone replies with an answer, and if not I will try and contact the Scratch team or something
Edit - Hey, first post of today according to Scratch clock
(which is off by 3 hours for me XD I never got around to changing that)

I am sorry but I think that it has been damaged and can never be opened.
But worse has happened too me. For example, I was saving a project but then scratch froze. I waited awhile but it was still frozen so I force quit scratch. BAD IDEA. NEVER FORCE QUIT SCRATCH WHILE SAVING. All of the projects in my scratch projects folder were deleted. D: Luckly, I already uploaded most of them so I could get them back.

It's unlikely you will get it back. However, I do remember offering a solution to an identical problem a while back. Found it!
Since so many people are having this problem, my first intuition would be something that has changed independently from the Scratch program and file format. IDK, maybe the date?
Anyway, I'd like to investigate more on the matter. May I have a copy of that 'corrupt' file? Knowing some Squeak, I might be able to trace back the problem.

I'd give you a copy but I can't even open the project. Do you know a way to get it over to you anyway? I tried importing the project, opening it regularly, opening it with other programs... nothing has worked
@Bajeebas that really stinks

Try uploading it to Mod Share! Make sure you add a description to it so I know which one it is
