Well I was thinking that it would just be an alternative to regular sticks, lasting the same amount of time and the same speed for tools.

After all, when a tool breaks, I don't think it's the handle that's depleted...

That sounds like a great idea :3

Somebody should preach about it on teh minecraft forums. The second recipe, I mean.

Wouldn't/shouldn't stone technically be sturdier though, forgetting the difference in commonness.

Stone is more brittle.

No need to bump after 2 minutes  smile  Do you have a cracked account? If you don't have an account then you can't get on/host servers. If you do there is a whole thing on the wiki which is down right now  tongue

Incorrect.  Rabbit has gotten on mine, and hosted his own, before he bought minecraft.  There is a setting that you can change.

Yeah, I'm mostly inactive.  I check in once in a while though.  If you want to contact me, I have a contact form at my website, http://escratch.org

I'd just like to say that if someone plays a free, unlicensed version of Minecraft, its not supportive of the creators. If you really wanted Minecraft to become better (although that is seemingly impossible, because is so awesome), then you would pay for the game, and support Mojang.

For some reason, even though I paid for it, my Minecraft sometimes says it's unauthorised. Maybe it's because I paid for it on another computer....

Re: Minecraft Official Topic

I wish I could play Minecraft, but I am logged in to scratch from someone else's computer so I'm not sure it would be ok to play it from this computer.
EDIT: I forgot I could play online.

Minecraft already has books, paper, and magical redstone in place.  How about a new type of craftable item: spellbooks?  What if you could combine a normal book with some redstone dust and some other item to create single-use spells?  A normal book, some redstone dust, and a redstone torch, for example, could create a Fireball spellbook.  The spellbook could then go in the player’s hotbar, like any other item, and when you selected and right-clicked it would consume the book (just one use per book!) and launch a fireball up to 100 squares.  The fireball could behave like a ghast’s normal attack, except thrown by the player, and when it strikes enemies it could deal heavy damage and set aflame any enemies in its blast radius, but not directly hit by it.

How about that same recipe, except instead of a redstone torch you used, say, 10 snowballs?  Now you can have an Ice Bolt type spell that when used acts as a fireball would, except on impact it covers the ground in snow, sends a few snowballs (not more than 10) flying around, and, like the fireball, destroys a small area of landscape. Except when an Ice Bolt destroys something useful, like a block of coal or iron ore, the resource is dropped as if it had been mined, instead of being destroyed as it would by a ghast’s attack or a creeper’s explosion.

This idea is REALLY interesting to me. Not only does it add adventure and combat but a great customization element. Several items could be easily added into this idea to make tons of spells. A water bucket could do a water spell, an apple could make a healing spell, a sapling could do a life spell (a combat spell strong against zombies and skeletons because their undead). But the cool thing is, this wouldn't take away from any elements or turn the game into an RPG, it would just add a whole new side of the game.

I LOVE the idea of combat custimization in general.

Thats is a pretty awesome idea.
Not sure if Notch would add it as it might make the game too fantasy-ish, I'd love it if it was added though.

@ Girwaffles Theres an even better one which builds its own roof, then he greifs it with tnt and it rebuilds it self.
