vBulletin?

Can this forum be moved to vBulletin?
It will look better and organised.
It will be cleaner.
Staff will have more and better powers.
Mods can find their job easier as the tools are easier.
Forum members can rep people and use more tools.

I think it should be vBulletin.

What do you think?

Re: vBulletin?

It can't be moved without removing every single post.

Re: vBulletin?

I've heard that there will be some forum changes along with Scratch 2.0... but I'm not sure about it.  hmm

I fall: It's a tragedy. You fall: It's comedy.
Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Re: vBulletin?

Actually, we could upgrade to a fancier forum plugin called MyBB. (has many vBull features, but is free)

They have a forum migration tool.

Re: vBulletin?

Instead of a forum system, I think it would better (cleaner, simpler) to have something that's more integrated with the rest of the site:

Perhaps make the current project comment system better for real discussions: longer comments, perhaps user voted (like digg or slashdot) and eliminate the 'forums' altogether.

official 'forum' sections (Announcements, New scratch members, FAQ) could be like galleries managed by the scratch team and featured. 'forum topic' could be added by adding a new 'project'... but perhaps a discussion topic is a project page without the project.  ??

Re: vBulletin?

vbulletin has too many drive-by spam bots and you have to keep up with the ever-increasing number of exploits.  i like this board  big_smile
