How old are you anyway? I mean it's rated 10+, there's really no reason you shouldn't be able to get it.
Did you even read the post?
It says he has a little brother that likes to watch him play games a lot.
So, if he knows the swears then it's not going to hurt him. If he doesn't, then he's not going to notice becuase there so minor (I played the game and didn't even remember it swearing). Still don't see the problem.

I'm sure you can look past any minor swears, I've heard it's plenty worth that.
Also, I'm just going to ask here if anyone knows:
If the ending to Portal runs at about 1 FPS on a certain computer, will Portal 2 run well on that computer? I want to buy it but I doubt it'll run at all.
It's still running on the same Source engine, so it should run roughly just as well, maybe a little slower if there's more graphical effects included. If worse comes to worst, you can always turn the resolution down a bit. That's what I do a lot. (For example, CoD 4 runs rather slow on my computer at my monitor's native 1600 x 900, but if I turn it down to 1280 x 720 it's fine.)

But if he doesn't(note that I may not be accurate) then he'll "learn a new word" and use it everywhere.

-2.5 FPS, AKA You'll crash consistently, but yes, Portal II will run.

If there are problems with the (minor) swearing you could always use headphones and make sure the captioning is off.

That is seriously funny (I know I shouldn't laugh, but I can't help it), but I doubt his little brother would get it..... his parents however..

in other words, your parents are the kind that would agree with the portal 2 adoption "controversy"? Here's the answer: headphones.

That doesn't count as controversy, that's just another news station not knowing what they're talking about.

What do you mean?

He means if you wear headphones, your brother won't hear anything.
I heard the worse version of "dang" about 4 times, the worse version of heck once, and the worse version of crud once.

Cave Johnson says the D word. Other than that. Nope

Can't get it then unless someone convinces me otherwise. It builds up the character and introduces the little kid to the real world? Stop shielding him!
Do you dislike me?
OKay, introducing to the real world might not be the best defense strategy in your arguement but what type of villain stays kid-friendly forever.

1. Worse version of "Dang" - about 3 times
2. Worse version of "Heck" - maybe once or twice
3. Worse version of "Crud" - if you take to long on one part, a character says it, and towards the end he says it again. so 1 or two times.
Other than that, nope. It's a great game. You shouldn't miss out on it.

I kind of feel bad for you
I can't imagine not being able to play a game that was rated 10+ because my sister might be watching. She knows she's not supposed to say those words, because my dad says them all the time
But, with that one quote from Rick, if you didn't have headphones on, I can imagine it getting VERY awkward VERY fast o.O
Headphones- wonderful idea.

Go ahead, laugh. I did.

Any "swears" mentioned can be swayed or conditioned as not a swear.
You should not focus on the very minimal bad things (which I don't think there are any, in my opinion) and focus on the vast comedic and puzzling challenges the game presents.

I'm surprised he didn't wink after he said that.
Oh man.
Thanks for telling me that. *Proceeds to vomit*
