I had to completely wipe my computer and reinstall my OS... I lost EVERYTHING!
What virus (or kind) was it? Do you have any idea how you got it?
And what do you mean by you couldn't start it? Could you turn it on?

You couldn't even start up your computer? Either you had a pretty bad virus, or you had 1000 of them, or that "virus" was a hammer hit to the motherboard.
Anyway, you should get antivirus software. Doesn't everyone have that already?

There's any easy way to recover data when a computer won't start up. This depends on a few things to work out what method you should use.
IF your computer boots past BIOS and the OS won't start, here's a couple of things you can do.
Download Ubuntu either DVD or USB depending on your machine. Boot from it. If it boots then it is the OS or HD that is faulty. Use Ubuntu to copy your important files to a USB. Note some files might not copy because of corruption.
If it does not boot past BIOS or it randomly restarts/ shutsdown (Like mine did)
Reset the BIOS (Note the following is only possible if your BIOS doesn't store memory in a flash like state. ie. Uses convential RAM) by taking out the (BIOS) battery for 15 seconds and puting it back in.
Try to boot to both OS's (Make sure if it's your original OS to remove the Ubuntu DVD or USB). If it doesn't work then it's either the Hard Drive or something else.
Final chance of recovering data. Take out the hard drive and connect it to another machine you know that works. Then Use the Ubuntu DVD/ USB to move the data on to another USB. If you can't access your data then the hard drive is corrupted or broken (Data can still be recoverable if you have the right tools).
If you can recover the data then the computer has some kind of hardware problem. This can be timely to find out what is the problem.

Are you sure you didn't just delete system 32?

I've gotten that like 3 times... now I have an external HDD (1tb) to protect my data. I save everthing onto there so there's almost nothing on my Hard Disk which also speeds things up
I know what it feels like... at least you have most of your scratch projects online!

That's why you should always backup important files and folders, like I always do.

You can't delete System32 under normal circumstances.
(Rough translation: system32 is an important Windows system folder, can not be deleted.)
