Instead of arguing in the petition threads, I think there should be an official topic for debating stuff about Namco and the Pacman project that was taken down. Although I'm on Scratch's side, I'll keep track of reasons for both sides in this post.
Reasons it was unfair for Nomco to do this
-Because they're educational, Scratch projects are (supposedly) protected by fair use law.
-Other companies like Nintendo and Sega aren't complaining.
-They (supposedly) haven't done anything to get rid of all the other Pacman projects out there.
Reasons Namco should have done this
-It's legal (supposedly).

What do you mean? Nomco was the one that said to take down the project in the first place.[/argument]

But they had to take it down, it was a copyright infringement. I do believe the gameplay was extremely similar.

But gameplay has nothing to do with copyrights. And they didn't HAVE to take it down. There were tons of flash versions that they could have dealt with before getting to the Scratch stuff (which wasn't even an exact copy). Plus, they only targeted a single project. They didn't say "get rid of all that Pacman stuff." They said "get rid of that kid's little pacman thing."

Do they even care anymore? If he puts the game up again will it be taken down again?

Dunno...

Exactly... what about the one in the example projects? That probably has the most views of any pacman project (counting the offline views).

They didn't like his username?
Odd, but it happens.
(I mean, I would do it if I was going to take down just one pacman project)

I didn't even realize that one! Wow, that was the first thing they should have targeted.

It being a child's project wouldn't mean much to the law.

So they removed one of 124scratch's projects? What about his other Pac-Man stuff?
